One by one all the countries will be banning/regulating ICOs. I think regulation is ultimately a good thing and sometime in the future they will all be regulated, but until then it's going to be a rocky road for ICOs. Not a good coin to buy if a person can't handle all the huge swings in price.

Well it seems the FOMO community is resilient and will assume the authorities are impotent until and if the authorities can actually enforce delistings and such…

…or are we just in a deadcat bounce?

Seems the ICOs such as NEO are getting very strong recoveries, so perhaps the FOMO market is going to stick out their middle finger to the regulators and dare them to actually delist tokens in many major nations. Perhaps the party won’t be over until the fat lady sings?

I guess we will find out how significant tax avoiding cash markets are if authorities delist and make illegal the trading of unregistered securities (i.e. ICO issued tokens that were not registered).

Personally I am not against the rise of decentralization. I am just trying to be pragmatic and understand implications and how to best position for the outcome.

Perhaps this is an attempt by the Korean Government to reduce or overcome some fake ICO.
But I do not expect the government to ban all ICO projects because it will be bad for us all.  Grin

What it says is "Korea will ban any kind of ICO." It is official from the Government.

Recall what happened when China banned all the ICO.

Indeed, the tittle said; Financial Authority "Prohibition of Funding through Foreign Currencies (ICO)
Actually, it will not be the same as China ban ICO, as Korean really support cryptocurrency and has issued regulations about bitcoin and exchanges.
Most countries still allow ICO, and government just trying to protect investors as precaution act from scammers or fraud activities.
Strict regulations will ensure every company or project which intend to collect funds from investors have to fill few documents to make sure they are legit and meet the requirements.

This is just a sequel with the recent drama with china. Yes, the price would drop but it is only momentarily and would rise again after some time like how ethereum reached as low as $230 after the ban in china and now it reached $290.

is that news really from the korea government? because if its true, i think korea government will doing the same like what china did. they don't want their citizen to be scam by fake ico and i think its natural if they concern with their citizen. i think the other country will do the same because protecting their people from scamming especially in the internet is also their important job. maybe there will be regulations that can control ico first so their people can safe if they want to invest in the ico.

Korea gov is friendly with USA gov so I think they will just control ICO. not ban it. many good ICO from USA still coming
yes, i agree. It's because all of us know that ICO now is on its hot issue. Many countries also follow this ICO. Especially the trend is increasing.

Its only a matter of time before other governments try and ban ICO's and crypto trading since it's messing wth the countries FIAT. The best that can happen in a few years is that their gonna try and control the movements, the US government is actually going to get on that in 2018.

Not just Korea the trend is being followed by other Asian Countries too ! India is next in the line to do it and mostly all the ICO scammers from India will have a hard time coming clean. It's a good news in a way.I totally support the moment to put a ban on ICO scammers.

Very clickbait-ish title and news. This FUD was very short and the price recovered very quickly - South Koreans are just protecting themselves from possible national ICO scams. Foreign projects and investments are not affected by this at all.

Korea Gov will ban all types of ICO, I am confused with countries like korea, china which forbids ICO, did they not think first in taking decision in recognizing ico or btc in his country, why now? or this is just their political issue in playing the btc price in their country, without korea and china I think BTC remains triumphant.

yes they thought about it and they make the decision that they have nothing against bitcoin. many even considered bitcoin a good thing and legalized it already. others are in the process of legalizing it.

then they looked at ICOs and they decided these things are a breeding ground for scams (something we already knew ourselves) so they banned them. many other countries have already banned ICOs or they are planning on banning them.

the only reason why you hear bitcoin being related to ICOs is because the news wants to scare you so they lie and spread FUD. they have nothing in common.

so now just has japan
china BAN ICO
korea BAN ICO

if all BAN ICO so how bitcoin at the future?
will drop?

The price didn't even move this time. Looks like "ICO ban" news have lost its shock factor and nobody cares.

South Korea didn't even ban ICO's far as long as I know anyway. They only banned South Korean hosted ICOs, not all ICOs from all countries, but I expect more and more countries to ban ICOs. There will always be places to host ICOs anyway, it's not a problem, and the Bitcoin price doesn't care about any of this ICO drama anymore anyway.

The trend is very strong so I don't think this ban is important.

It's very difficult to stop the internet, cryptos, ICOs, tokenization, ...

It's just ups and downs for blockchain technology, the technology is now so deeply implemented in society, we can't ignore or ban it completely.

After South Korea, I think singapore also concentrate on banning ico and shut down all crypto business, if true then chinese can give effect to those two countries, they are afraid without seeing positive side of ico.

Why did not they arrange it? are they incapable? they should be doing comparative studies to Japan in order not to seem frustrated prolonged and harming bitcoin users in their country.

If this is true. It means ICO they want to regulate the number of altcoins now. Which is good for the crypto industry.

This is really a good step to the crypto industry. There is really nothing to be feared of about ICO regulation because it is much needed. This a way to make the reputation of ICO great again. I just hope that the prices will not be affected though. But I can see that the prices are intact in general including Bitcoin's.
