According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

I'm a US resident/citizen that registered an account on Coinbase, loaded it with CC AND US Bank account funds purchased BTC all within the past three months and I never had an issue with them.

You need to pass their stringent and rigorous KYC verification checks before you can trade or transact with them without headaches. Yes, they are FinCEN licensed and regulated but they operate under strict government guidelines governing money movements.

What I find surprising is your post above about Coinbase not allowing US customers when in fact they are a US based exchange and usually cater to US residents first and foremost. Care to explain more?

Are you sure that they have banned US citizens?

They are a primarily US based company so i doubt that they have stopped serving US based citizens at all. Plus, on their official website states that US is clearly still accepted as a country: https://www.coinbase.com/global?locale=en.

However, their support is completely horseshit right now. Honestly, i would not use them even if they were open to your country simply because of the sheer amount of complaints that are currently open against them.

It may be just a select few states that are not able to use Coinbase anymore but you are definitely able to still use Coinbase if you are in the majority of US states. I've not received any emails from them personally.

I don't think that anyone else have received the same email you received either.

Is it possible that you may have received a phishing email?

That's weird, I've never heard of them banning US customers - Coinbase is US based!
I have referrals from the US and this has never come up before..

I'm in Australia and although Coinbase doesn't allow me to withdraw fiat, I can still use the wallet without any problems.
I Send BTC and ETH in and out of my Coinbase wallet everyday for over a year - never had an issue..

Also me either never receive anything in my coinbase account.. i think you receive some email which is not from coinbase.. or a fake one..
Better to be careful but coinbase still not active.. But the only that i experience bad in their wallet is pending transactions.. before but it fixed
And other than this issue almost all are ok except for high fee in the past..
I think could be a fake news someone are sending you or its a spam mail..  I receive any kind of suspicious in my email these days and almost all are scam honestly i notice sometimes their email are different from the original one..

That. If Coinbase would really end up not allowing US citizens to make use of their services despite themselves being a US business, social media would literally explode.

I some times receive emails from exchanges (while in reality it's just a phishing mail) that I am not even reregistered at, that someone requested a password reset and I have to approve or disapprove it.

I am obviously directly deleting these mails, but there are some people falling for it and click on whatever link where they then have an infected system, and from there who knows what happens......

I think you either were a victim of a spam email or you didn't pass their KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements and thus they're closing your account.  I've been using Coinbase for years (I don't even remember doing KYC) and never got an email about removing support.

I wouldn't wonder, if the emails would be real. There are many threads about coinbase in the last weeks, as well as poloniex
. Maybe laws force them, to through out U.S. citizens?

LOL this could be any of your friend or any stranger messing around with you. Sure they got you well in this case.
You do know that Coinbase is an American based exchange right ? Why would they want Americans to remover their BTC off their wallet ?
This should have been the first thing to come to your mind while the stranger did a prank call on you unless you don't know the fact that Coinbase is  an American based exchange. Undecided

In my opinion you probably received a fake email. Perhaps a phishing link trying to get you to log into your coinbase in order to gain your login details. Check your email inbox again - if it's a phishing email and you clicked on it, change your password rightn ow.

US is still an accepted country as per coinbase terms and conditions. Are you sure you didn't misread the email either?

I mean Coinbase is a US company, if it bans US customers then it would shut down itself.

It is not possible that any state is not able to use coinbase. Coinbase is an international platform which is used by many people around the globe. How can this be possible that it is not available in any country or state? It may be having some internal issue with an individual or something.

Looks like you are the only one who receive the email that US is not allowed to withdraw btc the other people who live in US posted here are not receive even your friend is not receive..
To clear up about your issue better  to reply or contact the support of coinbase to clear about the email you receive so that we know exactly if that is a fake or real. .

Try to chat the live support here .. https://support.coinbase.com/customer/portal/emails/new
Or email them. .

and i think if they send it to your email maybe this is mistaken. .

I think that this might make the most sense. The friend i spoke of has his account made in a different state. I will contact coinbase again to see if i can get a proper response. Like i said this was a little while ago, i hadnt really had the time to get it sorted out.

As far as it being a phishing email, im pretty certain it wasnt that. I had 2fa and the email said my account wouldnt close until i got my funds out.

I mainly used my coinbase for gambling, sending transactions back and fourth, could this have been an issue?

Thats quiet odd since you are also a US resident and they do prohibit Americans to use their service?Supposedly that coinbase dont have restrictions on where are those users coming from as long you wont able to violate their tos or limits.Im not an american citizen but i can able to make use of coinbase without any problems but solely for wallet not for making any purchasing transactions.

Similar case here. I have a friend using Coinbase since maybe 2 years and never have a problem since, me too I am using it since 3 years maybe. We both live in the same country.
About 3 months ago he has been contacted and be told that Coinbase doesn't work anymore with people from our country (outside US) has asked him politely to go to another place since he is not welcome anymore. Surprised by this, we also noticed that Coinbase removed our country from their list of accepted country.
The problem is he is the only one I know who received such invitation to leave the site.

People here who are giving Complains about coinbase has been with coinbase for over 2-3 years now, I have only used coinbase a year now, but have not received any difficulty with them. I guess this depends on the country, cause I have a same country guy who has been using coinbase before I knew about bitcoin and has no worries with them.
