Two updates that improve the page performance (both clearnet and tor) were applied yesterday.

As usual, all updates to FoxMixer are applied gradually as rolling updates with zero downtime and continuous self-testing.

Many users have been emailing us about it. And since our regular user base grew quite decently within the last few years, we are very proud to be able to invest our time into new and important developments.

And that is:
From now on, FoxMixer provides full SegWit support!

Yes, that's right! Starting from now, all newly generated FoxMixer addresses are P2SH addresses (starting with "3...") which are supported by almost all wallets these days. We see this as a crucial step to keep up with the development of Bitcoin and to achieve faster confirmation times with lower fees. Some redesigns of the mixing engine architecture were necessary to fully support SegWit addresses. Several extensive tests of all changes were conducted by our team within the last months before the update went live.

Up until now it was possible to use only addresses starting with "1..." or "3..." for payouts. This change additionally enables the use of Bech32 addresses as payout destination for your mixes.
Many wallets can already generate addresses starting with "bc1..." and FoxMixer is now able to send directly to these addresses.

Try it out and profit from the advantages of SegWit!

Have a good mix Cool

Can I do a payment directly form an exchange to foxmixer?

Hi,

for the exchange, the address of your mix looks like any other bitcoin address. The exchange and everybody else can't differentiate whether it is your address or the one of FoxMixer.
And if you enter your own address as the payout destination of the mix, this should work.
But keep in mind that the payment to the mix address should happen within 48 hours after generation. If the exchange is going to verify your payment manually then this may potentially take longer.

A new update to our automated infrastructure was applied.
In case of a hardware failure of any single cluster node, the failover time for switching to a backup node was reduced.

As the year is approaching its end, it is time to draw a short resume for 2019

A large share of the mixing service fee has always been dedicated to the investment into our server infrastructure.
Thanks to your contribution, we're able to provide and extend our global network of load balancers and broadcast servers.

The redundancy-by-design approach of FoxMixer results in a "no single point of failure" policy.
Next to maximizing ease of use, FoxMixer is coded from the ground with this principle in mind -  and it has not been added as an afterthought!
It can't.
From our experience with cluster management, multi-node systems which are bended to failure tolerance as an afterthought are doomed to fail.

Thinking about critical design questions and rare corner-cases beforehand is time consuming and sometimes straining, but has payed off for our team at every step we have taken.
This has allowed us to deliver the high-quality service and uptime that FoxMixer is providing.
And still, we're maintaining all of this with all log features turned off. We don't delete logs. Because we don't even generate them.

The mixing engine itself has always been highly fault-tolerant.
And now, our infrastructure is becoming more and more automated as well. To such an extend that it can cope automatically with all kinds of events that may occur.

We're proud to announce that there has been no downtime due to hardware or software failures during the entire year at all, even though the amount of mixing requests has increased.
All mixes were payed out in time. All of them.

Our team doesn't want to miss out the opportunity to say thank you to all our new users that are trusting us with their large amounts of coins
and we highly value the users who have been following us along the way since our start back in 2017!

Keep your privacy

And have a good mix! Smiley

I tried to use this service without reading just to put myself in the shoes of the newbie user who wants to test the mixer for the first time:

After entering the Foxmixer, the simple UI attracted me, everything is simply explained in the FAQ section. Clicking to the start button is enough to flash the new mixing code which will be used for separating future mixing amounts. I can add new addresses depending on the privacy I expect from the mixer. By the way, if the user has used this mixer, entering the previous mixing code will prevent the system to send the previously mixed BTC-s to the new ordered addresses.  0.002 BTC is the lowest amount for mixing BTC and fees are not high compared to the alternative mixers, honestly. I have tried the other mixers too, the Foxmixer has some advantages which I didn’t observe on other mixers, fees are around 1%. For each output address, 0.001 BTC is extracted from the total mixed amount.

Pros:

The fees are as advertised, there is no hidden fee
A letter of guarantee is the paperwork for using this service, in any case, the user can prove the ownership of orders.

The payout percentage is indicated on the LoG, for each address, there is an additional section per desired percentage amount. The user will not misunderstand anything after reading the simply written LoG.

The option to use PGP encryption for contact with support. The best advantage is to stay anonymous if something is not right during the mixing process.

The <Status of Mix> page is really helpful to track the transaction status and payouts. It was designed well and all details are there for any case.

I can use both Legacy and Segwit addresses. TBH, I prefer to use the Segwit addresses for the faster and low-cost mining fee transactions, Foxmixer has provided this advantage.

Cons:

There is a possibility to lose the second transaction, the terms and conditions clearly dictate this rule: Only one transaction per address.

6 confirmation is a bit very strict for amounts lower than 1 BTC and applying the required confirmation per amount will be a good idea.

I can use the same address on both payout section, maybe the user will be a victim of “fat finger”. Just a suggestion, there was no warning by the site for using the same address on all BTC address fields.

There is no warning on the mixing page, I will pay the 0.001 BTC fee even if I had used one single address on the first transaction. This was the disappointment for me, the user should know the adding new payout address will cost them 0.001 BTC but charging the same amount for the original address will not attract the new users, IMHO.

I tried to use this service without reading just to put myself in the shoes of the newbie user who wants to test the mixer for the first time:

Thanks for taking the time to write a review about our service and for being so thorough!

I can use the same address on both payout section, maybe the user will be a victim of “fat finger”. Just a suggestion, there was no warning by the site for using the same address on all BTC address fields.
That's a reasonable suggestion. We will consider to add a check for address equality and show a warning to the user if this is the case.

There is no warning on the mixing page, I will pay the 0.001 BTC fee even if I had used one single address on the first transaction. This was the disappointment for me, the user should know the adding new payout address will cost them 0.001 BTC but charging the same amount for the original address will not attract the new users, IMHO.
Well, it is explicitly stated that 0.001 BTC is the fee per payout address. It is also to be expected since there is a need to cover transaction fees also for low amount mixes.
Directly after creating a mix you can check the amount you will receive as a payout, so there is no surprises here.

6 confirmation is a bit very strict for amounts lower than 1 BTC and applying the required confirmation per amount will be a good idea.
The amount of confirmations is in most cases not a hurdle as the minimum payout delay is 2 h.
Since a new block is mined every 10 minutes on average, the confirmation is in almost all cases completed at the time the two hours have passed.

There is a possibility to lose the second transaction, the terms and conditions clearly dictate this rule: Only one transaction per address.

Not quite. You are right, it is stated explicitly that each mix must be used only once.
But we are quite some time in the business now and have acquired some knowledge about what kind of things can happen.
And if somebody erroneously sends a second transaction before the payout was completed, the mixing engine will wait for that second transaction to fully confirm before initiating the payout.
Thus, the full amount of bitcoins will be payed out.
It is just not the documented and recommended way of using the service. But for sure we invested a lot of time in implementing the logic to deal reasonably with corner cases as the one you mentioned such that no bitcoins are "lost".

I can use both Legacy and Segwit addresses. TBH, I prefer to use the Segwit addresses for the faster and low-cost mining fee transactions, Foxmixer has provided this advantage.

Yes, we embrace Segwit transactions due to the advantages you mention.

Our latest update contains a suggestion from Danslip's post above.

When dealing with bitcoin, it is generally a good idea to use a new address for every transaction you do.

As not every user might be aware of it, we implemented a new feature reminding users about it.
If the same bitcoin address is reused across multiple payouts of FoxMixer, a privacy warning shows up indicating that it is better to use a different address for each payout.
This is a precautionary measure on our site for more effective bitcoin mixing.

Hi,

what a detailed review. Thanks for helping us and other users by posting your experience while using FoxMixer!

"No single point of failure" policy shows its signs after typing the site URL and pressing the enter button. Actually, I expected a captcha thing will irritate me because I asked my friend to test the response ping time of the site with a different IP addresses (with time limits, of course) thanks to anonymous VPN and Tor network. The bothe onion link and clearnet website work flawlessly.

That's exactly what we are working for!

Correlation between minimum time requirement and network confirmation is not effective for fast mixing practice, for amounts less than 0.5 BTC first confirmation is enough for instant delivery. The double-spend probability is highly unlikely, IMO. Adding a function for disabling time delay can solve this problem and it will be a customizable option for all types of users.

There is still a time correlation, also for amounts < 0.5 BTC.
Many users are just not aware that time correlation is one of the simplest approaches to reveal address dependencies.
That's why we have a minimum mixing time.

A small suggestion: Electrum and Bitcore wallet implementation also lets the customers launch desktop wallets with this shortcut. The mobile interface works well too.

So your suggestion is to implement the address as a clickable "bitcoin:..." uri? That's a good idea.

Adding more altcoins and increasing awareness are my propositions for improving service quality.

Maintaining only one currency with our expectations of reliability, quality and support level is quite some work. Maybe that will happen in the future.
For the awareness: We are on a good way with the trust we receive and the development of our daily userbase.
It's a shame to see other mixers using sigcampaigns and paid news in order to pretend "trust" and scam people afterwards.

Our latest generation dynamic content loader now supports a loading page.
This page makes it more clear on slower network connections (for example via tor) that FoxMixer is still loading required resources (i. e. doing work).

On fast internet connections, the change should be barely noticeable.

Hi,

as we've received the following inquiry quite often during the recent time of the corona pandemic, we want to answer it here publicly for all of you.

Yes, we are continuing our work to keep everything running as usual. The self-maintaining infrastructure we have built up helps us a lot in this situation.
The user count has risen again, but also the number of support requests is higher than usual.
Not due to problems, but due to the uncertainty if everything is alright with the service.
The answer: yes, it is!
Our support team is working and available for you also during the current COVID-19 crisis, just as you are used to it.
If you have any issue or request, just contact us and we will look into it.

We hope that all of you will emerge unscathed from the crisis and you can make the best out of the current situation.

Protect yourself and stay healthy!

I have just noticed this thread. The mixer is not very known, as i didn't see it being suggested from others despite it is running well since a considerable time.
This is why i would like to repeat the ask about promoting it. In first replies, a user suggested you to run a signature campaign here in bitcointalk, and your reply was that investors want to reserve the pool amount to run the mixer. It was long time ago. Don't you still thinking is presenting the service in social platforms will help in business growth?

The user count has risen again, but also the number of support requests is higher than usual.
Not due to problems, but due to the uncertainty if everything is alright with the service.
The answer: yes, it is!
Sorry, I can't figure out this point?
Did users contact support before to use the mixer about their uncertainty if the service is all right? If yes, then you think that your answer is sufficient?

...

Hi,

we currently don't observe a need for promotion, as the quality of our service is a sustainable selling point why many users begin to mix with our service (and also recommend it to others).
From the beginning, we concentrated our expenses on the software, server and infrastructure quality.

We are not a purely profit-driven team that wants to increase revenues for any price.
We want to spend our time on offering bitcoin privacy to our users who value it as much as we do.

As you already mentioned, our service has been online for more than 3 years now.
Obviously, the math is simple: if we were not attracting enough users to keep up our infrastructure, developer and support team we would no longer be online.
You probably also noticed what happened to other mixing services that used to spend tons on campaigns.

Maybe we will decide to do some promotion in the future but we currently don't see the urge to do so.
