Working abroad is really a lot of sacrifice they misses there parents and to those married they missed there children and children missed there parents too. Parents who work abroad has many worries to there loved ones because they are not with them. It's real hard to work in a foreign place with a foreign people with a foreign culture... So those who really want to work abroad you need to prepare your self it's not just like a vacation that if you like to go home you can go home you need to finish your contract before going home.. And you need to learn to deal with your homesickness. It's a real sacrifice but need to motivate your self to be strong many people ended up in broken family because they cannot control there homesickness.. They beg for love and care of others and others too it's vice versa but it's not the right to overcome homesickness try to think of your goal when you decided to work in a foreign country your goal for your family try to think of the reasons why you need to sacrifice... I agree, You will also feel the importance of your family's presence when you are alone in other country working. The sacrifice of being away from them just to give them a better life is one of the way to show them how much we love them. Sadly, there are family members who also take advantage of the person who is working abroad. My prayer is that all of the people can stay in their own country with better opportunities so that they don't have to leave their families. Its not always about the money we can give but also our presence and time to bond with them.

From present/past colleagues I've worked with, other than leaving friends and family behind, the next hardest thing would probably be fitting into the culture. Even having lived for years somewhere as cosmopolitan as NYC / London etc., they find that culturally there still is a difference that cannot be bridged.
