For me bitcoin - the best. I invest a little in ICO, so I'm also interested in epherium.
Epherium ranks second in terms of capitalization in accordance with coinmarketcap.com

According to me the best coin is ETH, because it is in high demand and has a good market potential. According to many experts ETH is the most preferred crypto-currency. This is because it is giving good output in term of profits to its investors. One can invest in that for long term investment and can earn a huge profit. There are many other coins also like neo, waves etc. The difference is that they don't give good profits to there investors.

In my own opinion, The best coin as of today is ethereum coin and one of the best example is the banning of ico's in china, In that time eth coins has been greatly decreased its value but if you notice right now in the market that the value of eth coins is already recovering and continuously going back to normal. The best coin could be the one who will achieve scalability ? Then you have to take into considerations realistic expectations against fairytale hypothesis relying on unproven doubts.
Mere speculation. Certainly not the best coin, with lots of drawbacks, but I think that a coin like Dash which has a complete roadmap on improving it’s hardware infrastructure to achieve expansion, if only aiming at 50 million users, is closer to a "to the moon" status, just for anticipating some consistent work schedule and matching it to the core project (here, taking place as a payment system)
In the end, any coherent coin which will find the means to pierce through, besides dreaming big !
