They have different niches. If it was world wide trend for electric cars then maybe. There many countries that will use gasoline cars for very long time because of the big busineses. Big busineses are can be much slower in big changes.

Looking from the sustainability end, you will realise that electric cars are an upgrade on the petrol/diesel engine car but will should not forget these batteries will have to use a long lasting charge medium and preferably Lithium, which is also not environmental friendly. Maybe the cut down in gasoline will enhance the mitigation of global warming. Maybe it will not but lithium is also as environmentally friendly either

There is major portion of society which will not afford the electric car. I think the electric car will make comport in our lives but there is a space available for petrol car also. Petrol is also a powerful fuel which are mostly consuming in machines.

At the moment, the electric cars are very expensive because at the moment not a lot of car manufacturers are involved in making those electric cars, once the major car makers decide to do that, it's price is going to drop and it will crush it's competition.

The only thing that prevents electric cars from becoming popular is the huge expenses involved with the battery and the inverter. But the technology is progressing rapidly and a lot of researchers are now working on new battery technology. It is just a matter of time before a breakthrough is achieved. And once that happens, crude oil will become cheaper than drinking water.

Too true! When a new technology is just released it would be hell of expensive. But give it a few years for china to actually study the tech to replicate it and improve it for less then the said new tech will be able attainable for the masses. Electric cars will be great. But will the oil industry focused countries let it happen will be a different matter. With the amount of money these country have, they could easily buy the technology and kill it right then and there

That’s exactly right but if the governments will give funds for the driver to afford electic vehicle in our country then it will be a big help for a lot of drivers because they won’t be dealing with the gas problem in the world.
