Affordability is the biggest challenge. Isn't it? Why should anyone spend $100,000 on a Tesla car, when a Toyota or Fiat with the same specifications can be obtained for under $20,000? Environmental protection is fine. But it should be affordable as well.

You probably would like to say something, then I agree. This is in the first place environmentally friendly, and secondly, much cheaper.

Electric cars require power, as in electricity, whereas petrol cars require fuel! Power and fuel prices are different in different regions of the world. If fuel prices go up, demand for petrol cars will decrease and demand for electric cars will increase.

Right. And i don:t have amy problem with ecars replacing every petrol based cars. Tesla should be commended for starting this kind of thing though that will face very big challenges from the conventional car companies which is bigger.

I really think that having an electric car is more eco frienldy compared when you are using diesel powered car. It's cheapwr because gasoline and oil is  ey expensive nowadays.

Will the electric car destroy petrol car?
There is major portion of society which will not afford the electric car. I think the electric car will make comport in our lives but there is a space available for petrol car also. Petrol is also a powerful fuel which are mostly consuming in machines.

Gonna answer that with another question. How much 'big' gas companies willing to spend to prevent it? Smiley

Eventually, yes.

I haven't followed it that closely, but aren't there already some bans in Europe set to go into effect on new gas car sales by the 30s/40s?

I guess fuel cell vehicles could catch on in some places, so it may not necessarily end up being all electric. But fossil fuel cars will eventually be phased out.

A study conducted jointly by the NGO Carbon Tracker and the Grantham Institute reports that oil companies underestimate the global market for electric vehicles. Which could lower the demand of two million barrels per day in 2025.

We all know that the main disadvantage with the electric car lies in the expenses. The capital cost and maintenance for electric cars are much higher when compared to diesel or petrol cars of similar configuration. Another major issue is the battery replacement, which will cost you a fortune every 3-4 years.
I agree, I think so too ... of course, electric cars are more useful for the environment .

I believe that electric cars are definitely the future, and the industry will keep developing. It makes sense to me that petrol cars will start to lose their popularity.
