Building a rig, best GPU today?

Hi,
I currently have a S9 and a D3, but want to build a GPU rig as theres not much fun or fettling with an Antminer.
Have been researching for the last few weeks online, trying to get an idea of the best GPU's to buy (6 to begin with) but a lot of the information seems relevent to the day it was written.
If you had to replace your rig today, which GPU's would you buy?
Am leaning towards GTX 1050's 6GB, but not sure if there is any difference between single fan units or manufactures.
As RX 4 series seem near impossible to buy at the moment am ruling them out, unless anyone knows a model/supplier to recommend? (UK)

Avalon 7 is the latest Bitcoin miner supplied by Avalon in late 2016. It has lower price tags than most of the advanced miners but is also less powerful. It seems to be a good choice for people who are looking for a cheaper entry level miner. But you already have S9... i think so far it is the best out there.

Rx 570 4gb for 240 or so low power decent hash I would
personally go for rx 580 8gb to futue proof a bit for $300

best bang per buck or go with 1070 nvidia current the most versatile card
out there but its $400

Theoretically for ETH the best GPU would be the Polaris series (RX470/480/570/580) but they are in limited stock right now. If the prices aren't inflated GTX 1070 are great for Equihash mining. GTX 1060 and GTX 1050Ti are great for any GPU algorithm in general. Just buy any GPU that does not have its price inflated, you can actually mix GPUs of different models and even between AMD and Nvidia (others did it before) but there might be some driver issues if you do that.

Is there 1050ti 6GB? I haven't heard it before.
Rx5 series are becomming easy to purchase in most of countries, it's one of the best gpu for cost efficiency.
If you are willing to choose Nvidia GPU, 1060 is the best considering GPU cost and power consumption.

Rx 580 4 gb is cheaper than 8 GB. The difference is not great but I don't see the point in wasting the money. No increase in speed you get. I always liked the Radeon GPU. I still use them. RX-4 series 5 is worse than the RX series. Rate of production about the same but the temperature of the GPU 5 series is much lower.

As you already suggested, the 1050's are value for money, especially the 4gb ones. I'd opt  for the dual fan if I were you, unless there is a large price difference. You will achieve a slightly lower temperature but will be a little noisy.

Other decent alternatives are, the 1060's for Nvidia and the RX 470/570 for AMD.

For me personally, best GPU is 1070. It's does 32 Mh/s in Ethash and 440 Sol/s in Equihash.
Also the power consumption is great and have better resell value.
That is if you find it at decent price of course.

it's better to wait now i read that the new 1070 ti is going to be released soon, should be like a 1080 but cheaper perhaps, consumption look the same on paper but for mining maybe it's different

that's great if we will see 1070 ti which is much cheaper I think I will go for that instead of 1080 ti which is almost 1k$ from where I live, I got some rx 570 and I can say that its quite good but profitability wise it will take some time before I can reach my roi so I will wait instead for that new NVidia thanks mate for sharing that info.

I have mined with a couple different cards and the 1070 felt smooth and hashed like a beast, but I couldn't justify the extra cost.
The 1050 and 1050ti are too low earnings per slot taken although I guess with the 12/13 slot mobos then maybe the cost of the system wont be in such bad ratio to it's earnings per gpu.
So that left me between the Radeon RX cards and the 1060. Which meant the GPU lottery is very important
Ultimately I preferred the 1060's because with samsung ram(normally in the mining cards with 3 month warranty) can get very close to the radeons in hash/w for Eth. But not cryptonite.
The major bonus is actually on some of the other algos like neoscrypt, zcash,skunk, c11 and 1 or 2 other algorithms that I havn't really mined with.
and for neoscrypt...the 1060 can actually almost match a 1070 in earnings 800-900kh vs 1-1.1Mh. But never had the chance to compare power efficiency between the 2

TLDR
Overall I felt the 1060 mining cards were the best value for money. That being said I should have 6-8 of those and RX cards in the next couple weeks(total 12-14 gpus). Because it's good to cover weaknesses and just point them at their favorite algorithms.

When you factor in TOTAL SYSTEM price, the 1050 and 1050ti start falling quite a bit behind most cards that have widespread usage in mining.

 1070/1080/1080ti are good efficient and cost-effective cards on ZEC/ZEN/other splitoffs and some small niche coins using Skein/Groetsl/lbry type algos, but don't support as wide a range of algorithms well as the high-end AMD RX series cards.


It's hard to give a definitive answer to this sort of question because the parameters to make the choice VARY too widely, sometimes on an individual basis.

1060 are overall the best bang for the euro.

If you live in cold climate go for 1070 8g for Equihash and RX 580 8g for most other things. One 1070 rig heats the place more than 3 1060 ones.

If you have cheap power RX 580 wins.

These threads show up weekly.  I still do not understand why people who know absolutely nothing about gpu mining will go out and buy 6 GPUs.  Start out with 2 and build from there.  Different coins are mined better under different GPUs.  Coins fluctuate in price.  Cards fluctuate in price.  If you buy 6 cards at one time you are almost guaranteed to spend more than you need to.  That said, I think 1080ti is king. The pricing hasn't been affected by the mining boom so you will always pay retail.  And density will become a factor as you go along.  The better the card, the less you will have to spend on extra motherboards, ram, processors, etc.

for the first rig to test the market, i would recommend gtx 1050 ti...
which is very affordable... comparing to $400rish RX570/580 or $300rish GTX 1060 6GB, or $$400rish GTX 1070...you can easily get 1050 ti from Amazon.com at around $100 bucks...
also, 1050 ti is generally good at all the GPU only algos... so ETH, Zcash could be all your options...
and... their power consumption is always Nvidia level, which is much more efficient than AMD cards
