Dear Callback,
To be honest I don't know if we've met before but I've had a brief look at your previous messages and they all seem to be rather negative.
No matter what project you are commenting on. Obviously I have a bit of a different view on the things you mention here.
For full disclosure for anyone that should have questions after this, I don't hide I a simply myself, so I am not anonymous,
My name is Cristiaan Brans, I am responsible for community care at IOP.
You can find me and contact me via
https://www.linkedin.com/in/memnon or
cristiaan@iop.global or Memnon on discord or telegram.
I will do my best to reply to your comments in the same order that you wrote them:
What happened to this project? It came up rather nice, but the original leader Markus seems to have vanished.
He's still very much active, he's regularly on discord and has recently set up the office for developers in Budapest.
Also if you were with us last weekend in Berlin you'll have seen him on stage and around. So no idea why you think he's not around.
Just scroll up and listen to his interview ??
But should you have any questions for him specifically, feel free to let us know.
Handing it over
IOP is and has been a digitally cooperative community. There is no 'handing over'.
to a bunch of potato faced idiots who are running it into the ditch, a whole bunch of people sucking on investors tits, mining with "mining licenses" and dumping constantly.
We have people in over 30 countries worldwide the groups there we call 'chapters' correct. Currently we have a permissioned proof of work also correct. IoP chapters form the spine of our community. They are the most active members of our community and tasked to focus on local business development (build up IoP acceptance points, cooperations with universities) go public meetups and conferences, stimulate the growth of members and followers in local chapters and spread the word about IoP in general. In exchange they have a chance to gain a mining license for IoP. Our local chapters will place their monthly chapter (activity) reports in their respective channels. If they get more downvotes then upvotes, they lose their license.
What a bullshit idea, all these chapters. What is this, the Hells Angels?
No this is the IOP community, it's been like this since it's inception. However, we are about to make a change in consensus.
This will change the ecosystem of the IOP coin actually very soon we'll publish a video from our Berlin conference last weekend where one of our core developers talks about our new consensus.
He present there the basic principles of finding Byzantine-fault-tolerant consensus algorithms and how they can be improved by using a directed acyclic graph, or DAG.
The DAG idea has been popularized by projects such as IOTA and HEDERA (Hashgraph) ofcourse but IoP will make this also soon. It's similar to blockchain, but instead of working together to produce a single chain, nodes gossip with each other to produce a web of timestamped messages, all linked through cryptographic hashes. But unlike the closed system at hederas hashgraph, IoP will be a free-to-join network.
They just had a congress, trying to sell it as a great success on Twitter, sure, the price only cratered 25% afterwards.
We focus on delivering our vision and roadmap. I think we are one of the few projects that has actually got more than 20 developers contributing to it fulltime.
The market price has so many factors beyond our control. If you for instance look at the 'bloodbath' we had recently, there is very little we can do

Nobody seems to give a shit anymore, even though the software and the system are quite cool.
Well our community has only grown. We have over 100 people worldwide working for the project (in the chapters & divisions) and growing each month. But also thanks for the compliment on the software. One thing to note here is that we consciously haven't done any marketing before any of the products were ready. We've only done grassroots stuff to get us in a good position. Now that Titania is releasing, and the Mercury SDK is coming you'll see marketing gear up a bit. We only start shouting when we have something. We try not to shout when we only have an idea.
Its always a bad sign if theres only a moderated ANN thread on BCT and mods immediately remove critical voices and try to direct everything to Discord or Telegram.
Check out their Discord, its as exciting as dry fish on a stick.
Go on their Telegram and try to be funny or mention something critical - banned immediately.
Well I am really surprised you think this, you seem frustrated over something. In fact it's one of the most open places where freedom of speech rules. I would encourage anyone to check it out for themselves.
Come in via
https://discord.gg/RVWheS3, do a basic introduction of yourself in #introductions and then you get access to all active channels. Its as simple as that.
I bet this will be deleted in a couple of minutes, but then I would open a thread on it anyway, would like to hear some voices, if anybody knows some more details.
No it won't
. But your post seems to be full with a bit of frustration. Please feel free to contact me any time about any specific concerns.
In any case I hope to have answered you concerns and wish you a pleasant day.
