I'm not really informed about NEO but it seems to be a coin so don't they provide paper wallet creation?
Paper wallets are the best at holding cryptocurrencies for long term.
After generating the keys, put the paper in a safe or keep it in a shoebox under your bed.

This stuff drives me crazy...

Downloaded NEO GUI wallet.  Have a password, generated an address... where the hell are the private keys?

If my laptop blows up... can I retrieve my account with password and address only?  Wouldn't I need private keys?

Just right-click on your address and select "View Private Key". There you have it  Wink

The desktop wallet will be safer than web wallet for sure. Better go with desktop wallet especially if you are planning to hold for long term.

Is it not late to buy this coin? I am interested in buying it too but afraid it would not rise since its already high., Can someone enlighten me of the future of the coin?

I think many of the good coins will rise considerably over the next few years. NEO I think is one of the good ones. You're right though that price is currently quite high relative to some other coins, so there may be better short-term options elsewhere.

NEO is the Chinese version of ethereum. It has a good development with a solid community. I think it is good long term investment next to Bitcoin  and Ethereum.

I am in the same boat as op. Only I am still accumulating my stash. I already spend some time thinking about web wallet or desktop, and right now I am leaning towards web wallet. I like the way myetherwallet works. The ability to access it from anywhere and keep my private key absolutely safe from hackers/trojans/viruses on a paper wallet is great. Is there something similar available for NEO?

I also bought neo for a long hold. I keep neo in a web wallet and I think it is quite safe, because my private keys are only on me.

Is the web wallet safe enough for this to hold? Of course, I'm talking about storing private keys and passwords offline, etc... I'd probably barely log in.
Better make a paper wallet of it, you can't predict anything over the internet. The paper wallet is the safest method to store any coin. If they face any issue or get hack by any means then, this can cause you lose funds and at that time private key won't be able to help you. PaperWallet is best and not hard to make.

If you want to invest long term, you need to pay attention to the issues around it. Suppose offline wallets need to upgrade to the new version and they give investors time to move their coins to their new wallets. If you have invested, you need to follow it regularly to catch up with the latest information from the project, I mean technically from the project.

I don't think neo is good candidate for buy and forget coin. There are going to be lot of weird news around all the time as happens with all Asians coins. I love to buy it and I suggest to people to buy but I can't forget following it.

Neo's future really tights with the Chinese regulations. If there is positive news regarding regulation coming,  it will be interesting to see how NEO move, it might be a dominant player in China or it could be replaced by any other big player. Don't forget the BAT in China are not into this yet and when the regulations allow them to enter, I can't see how NEO can compete with these guys.

Will Neo ever be supported by Trezor of Ledger nano? this could solve the problem of long term holding.

The future seems bright for NEO which is tagged “Chinese Ethereum” and can be used for long time investment. The team is focused and will be around for a very long time. Investors are in love with it .NEO is up by over 350 % this month.

That's part of my point point... while I'll be paying attention to basic news surrounding NEO I'm not looking to have to constantly upgrade the GUI wallet... which is why I was thinking web wallet because the "maintenance" is less.

Neo is also worth for long term holding and maybe we can see it will reach like eth map. But who knows, we couldn tell the value of Neo in the future but I believe it will rise high the price. Because I also hold Neo for long term.
