Ok, he has sent a screenshot of the payment.

I may have to eat my words and pay him some compensation if it does come through.

If its not there by tommorow, notify your bank, or message me and ill notify mine, just to make sure everything went through ok.

Although, i sent the payment 45 minutes ago, why is it still not showing?

As I said, some banks take longer to clear than others.
HSBC/First Direct usually around 2 hours, Santander anywhere between 2 hours to the next working day.
They are the 3 "worst" for being slow... most others are instant or under 2 hours.
bollocks, im with santander.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Then it will most likely clear overnight.
So there.. mystery solved.
I also have a Santander account, which I rarely use now because they are really rubbish and not very helpful at all.
I personally have had payments delayed until the next working day (somtimes up to 3 days later if I sent on a Friday night and there is a bank holiday Monday)... made me look not very good and also got accused of being a scammer... which is why I got a different bank account and now very rarely use it at all.

Just google "santander payments slow to clear" you will find plenty of complaints.

But I made a payment yesterday, and it only took 5 minutes tops?

Depends on the time of day, bet it was before 4pm? Either that or have you sent more than this transfer today either will have probably caused the delay.
Santander pick and choose which payments go through instantly anything over £300 is almost guaranteed to be delayed (this also counts if you sent one payment before of £150 and trying to send £200, the second payment will be delayed) or if it is after 4pm it is usually delayed and cleared overnight also.

Santander normally clear overnight.
If it isnt in by 11am then there definately is something wrong, I would give it a couple more hours personally, I have had payments clear between 9-11 if they do not clear overnight, but never any later.

i feel bad for grabbing my pitchfork

unless he took the time to forge that screen shot, he likely is paying for the shittiness of his bank.

There is a small chance he has NOT sent it FPS. Santander are a bit shit with that.

If it didn't go FPS it'll take 2-3 WORKING DAYS for you to get it.

I'll feel bad once the money arrives. Until then he has the goods and I am out of pocket.

Here is the screenshot:
https://i.imgur.com/A7zOVUm.jpg

It indicates that it has been sent via faster payment, which should not take almost 24 hours. It doesn't look like a forged screenshot.

Payments to new payees are sometimes (seemingly randomly) held for up to 16 hours for security checks.  That time has passed.  Time to call your bank and see what's up.

Mandate No.1 seems strange.

That would suggest you are the first person he has ever paid...

you're main issue here, imho, is greed.

Most people who get scammed seem to be people paying well over spot for coins.

Yep few things dont add up.
As I said earlier Santander do hold payments for up to 16 hours for security checks, even if it is sent Faster Payments, the next day the faster payment will be rejected and resent and cleared instantly.
If the bank had held the payment for fraud it would not show on the statement so it should be processing.
Mandate 1 is also very strange, he has no other payees on his account?
Also price is well over spot.. I dont want to rub it in but I did say you would be better selling to me for -10% under spot than selling to someone and getting scammed.
You would have got £15 less than what Oreo claims to have sent, but at least you would have had it instead of how you are looking now at a loss.
Things are not looking good at the moment sorry to say.
(All this is first hand experience with Santander)

If you do decide to cash out please please either contact me or someone reputatable or use Escrow for your remaining coins.

agreed, we need to tighten up around here imo and make it safer for newer people and have more precautions in place. if even 1/100 get screwed because of bitcoin, that dissent will spread. when everything goes right people don't say anything, but when something goes wrong..

i wish you the best scott
