I do not recommend you to invest on those coins, take a look to DeepOnion Project, read the entire white paper and visit their website. I am sure you will buy this coin. I already Invested 20k dollar and I am sure it will be x100 by the next year.

In this comparison, I probably would prefer Ripple, because despite the fact that this project has a rather non-transparent structure, but this project has quite a serious capitalization and is confidently moving in the market, it certainly depends on bitcoin, but it all depends on our chief.

For me much better to divide your $1000 for that two coins, you can able to get much good profit for holding that two for long period of time and you will not regret if each that coin will increase its value.
But base on the project of these two coin XRP is much better and have strong team with a great vision.

If I would suggest you, I tell you that, Ripple (XRP) is great alt coin for long time.

It has great future.  Otherwise you can see the other alt coin, such as, Waves, Nem, Bat.

Well, and then there is the big issue, that no banks at all need XRP to facilitate any payments. Story is some guys in Dubai transfer Ripple to each other to drive the price up, other than that there is no real usage for this coin.

These are all 3rd party money transfer companies, not banks. So, I ask you again, please provide some examples.

Japan/Korea? So they hope perhaps, nothing is there. No bank needs that Ripple stuff, they have SWIFT, VISA, etc. in place that works way more efficient and cheaper for decades.
