Altcoins do have a future but not today or this year, maybe next year or a couple of years, we don't know exactly when but top cryptocurrencies do have a good future. But the only problem is when an Altcoin is pumping and at the same time Bitcoin's value wil drop, people will upset and complain about the event where their investments will lose profits.

Probably you choosed not better coins for Investment either your time of Investment in the coin was not better , but here right now you have three options , first option is to sell those altcoins which are less dumped and out the money back in more dumped coin and wait for the perfect time to up the price .
Second option for you is that , if the altcoins that you are holding are continuously going down then sell for usdt and buy again those assets when Thier price get start to high .
Third option is to buy more altcoins , but for this you need to have better amount of money to average the price at which you bought .
If you cannot do anything of these three options ( if you are feeling that I am not right , perhaps I tried for myself and everytime got success ), then you should remain at hodl and wait until you got back of your initial investment atleast .

I think altcoin is gainful in a long haul, however you have to pick the correct alts to put resources into, in the event that you are not going to put resources into the right alt's or to an alt's that has potential, you won't get any benefit from putting away it.

I think if bitcoin crashes everything will obviously fall. Including eth. It will stay at that point for about a week until it settles. Even if that settlement point is at 0. Then you would see a rapid rise in eth and since eth would be the main trading pair the altcoins would follow. Everything would survive in the end. But honestly the only way btc crashes like that is if a unfixable bug is found in the code. But if it crashes there would be that turning point to Ethereum.

The market will always follow what bitcoin does since it's the main pairing to all alts. Etherium is nice but it doesnt have as much volume as Bitcoin has.

And everytime you sell bitcoin into ur altcoin, theres also a buyer who just sold his altcoin for ur bitcoin.

So if you want to break away from bitcoin in prices, you have to make more etheriums, more neos, more vens so ppl have more options to buy their altcoins.

Or better yet, pair them with USD, formerly USDT, but we see how that went.

The corrections has already been made, it's has built a nice support around 8600$ so we're entering the green zone. However, It's still possible to get below 8k, maybe even 7k so everyone needs to be careful. But... everything below 6k sounds like a sci-fi to me.

“just need go choose the right one” haha yeah thats the point, its not easy and you cant “just” pick one and make a profit out of it. It takes skill and a lot of research with a bit of luck
