more than likely. I imagine most will dump bitcoin gold as soon as they are able to. Forks are bad in my opinion as it splits the community.

I really think that Bitcoin gold will be just like the Bitcoin cash and would be in the same position where Bitcoin cash is now.I don't think so that forks has any benefits other than rising bitcoins value before the fork as fork only does divides the community which I think is not good for bitcoins. Now people are just trying to get free money from this fork and would cash out their Bitcoin gold as soon as it goes higher as at starting it would be famous get pumped to a good prices and then cash out that is the general strategy that people are going to do just like what people did with Bitcoin cash.

The final result will depend on the miners if the majority of the miners want to run another new GPU rig to make the BTG network will be actively and that will make the bitcoin gold die but bitcoin gold is same with another altcoin and why we need gold if we can buy the original one such as bitcoin? Many people just realize the gold as free bucks and no more.

Bitcoin Gold provides an opportunity with GPU mining that BTC has since lost. Hope it succeeds. This "Gold" will of course be an altcoin. After chasing infos about crypto algo utilized, and which cards would suit that most I decided to stick with something oldfart instead, even XMR! Yes, not mining "Gold" but monero. Honestly that 16k blocks premine tells everybody: Born dead. And even if not dying instantly, there will be a slow death on charts, mostly pointing down. Bitcoin Cash was no difference. Bitcoin Whatever will follow the same trail, than we get Bitcoin Nadanada etc cetera ad nauseam.

Free coins will be very popular in the beginning. some people go in and sell it. nothing special, and then lost. I'm not interested in BTG, and I'm not sure I'll get it for free.

For me unlike Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold does not make a claim to be the real Bitcoin. Instead, Bitcoin Gold project hopes it can prove a valuable exercise for Bitcoin, a sort of test case for a hard fork that Bitcoin itself may one day require. And their main goal is to build a perpetually ASIC-resistant version of Bitcoin. I like the idea but I don't know if this project will failed or successful since Bitcoin Gold still does not exist and we still don't know if big communities will support and invest in this cryptocurrency. In this kind of speculation about the Bitcoin Gold, for me this is no difference with the altcoin before like Bitcoin Unlimited(BU), Bitcoin cash(BCH) and another altcoin appeared which is Bitcoin Gold(BTG). But for sure most of the community here right now got panic again in this things, where majority of them Sell their altcoin at once before the upcoming Fork. Well, lets wait and see what will happen in this day, due to its hard to justify a things which is not happening yet.

Almost all of the Bitcoin forks did fail to reach their target on getting the community. We would still go with the original Bitcoin core rather than joning thoes forks.

I dont think bitcoin gold will fail as i dont think bitcoin cash failed. The bitcoin gold will be much lower than both bitcoin or bitcoin cash. But that doesnt mean its a failure just because the price is low.I do think that whar will make the coin fail is if there's no development, all the rumors of of it being its a scam are truth.

Yes that is probably true, but to be honest I think I prefer them to bcash. At least they are trying to make a real adjustment to the technology, that is making this coin asic resistant, and it should be mined with GPU. This will make it easier to mine for everyone. I think this is their main goal, making mining decentralized again. Not saying this is important or not, or that I agree with it. I will probably mine some, if their price is not to low, and it gets profitable to do so. Bcash only did the block change, and I don't see that as a big improvement, because I still prefer the possibilities from the lightning network. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1883902.0BTX in my opinion does it bigger, better and has been released in April already. I don't see any need for btg. I can't say I disagree with you, but bitcoin is open source and we will see many alts coming like this in the future. If they all put replay protection and don't pose any threat to bitcoin network I don't really see a problem with these forks. I see them as free cash, or bitcoin dividends as everyone likes to call them now. Like I said I will only try to mine these if their price is good enough for me to have some profit. I don't really know BTX, just saw your link now, and check their price at coinmarketcap. Are they cost effective to mine?

This isn't clear yet. It's possible (even likely) that the final Bitcoin Gold code will include replay protection. If so, it won't be unsafe for exchanges to add the coin. Having said that, it's only a week away from the fork and we still haven't seen the code. That's a bad sign, given that there should be ample time for auditing/testing, especially in an open source environment. I think that we are all probably blowing this out of proportion and that this launch will be a big flop. I suspect that the hype surrounding this "hard fork" may have been to cast doubt on the Segwit2x fork next month.

That might indeed be so. I like the hype, people blowing off altcoins to get btc. Good for those that does the opposite, collect altcoins, and don’t really care about btc gold – like me Hope the altcoins goes up again tho

If some of the better quality ones are chose, the returns will be much better than whatever bitcoin gold will give. People will be racing to dump this as fast as they can.
