sometimes not all ico it gives results commensurate with what you expect. there is a scam and there are many who succeed. all that is required with knowledge of the crypto world. so I guess every time we have to learn something new. including for ico

I don't think you'll really get an 'honest' answer here, too many people trying to "sell" their own product or make gains. I'd say independent research is always the best answer. Look for something that is new and innovative, that you can see real world use for. Try to avoid the company that's repackaged the same product 50 other companies have created.

This is the brave new world of opportunity. When it was the "gold rush" hundreds of years ago there were scammers selling fake gold. Also known as fools gold.
Avoid "fools ICO's"!!

Have you even bothered to look through the thread to find an answer to your question before even asking. Lots of people have kindly given advice on how you can select the best ICO and end up not being a victim of scammers. Start with the team first and see if they have built a project before or they have had some solid experience before, then look into the project to see if it is realistic and worth investing. That is all!

I always look at the project reality. It's hard to know if an Ico is real or scam.

Specially when ICO's run by newbie people, I was a victim of scam ICO, all of my effort and money are just wasted and that event will surely wake me up when joining ICO's. A lot of scam but still there are good ICO's to support for, don't be scared to invest just be more careful when you are investing. At the end cryptocurrencies is the future and you should be part of it.

every person should have some point that are significant for them in choosing ICO. my list - 1.Team and it background, 2.Timeline of projects a clearly and easily to understand, 3. Have partnership with fonds or organizations, 4.in WP there is information abt amount of money to each stage, 5. Good support in social media, and good customer service in official resources. For this reason I choose Confi, https://icobench.com/ico/confideal. Good reputation of project and team, good rating also. Now they start bounty campaign

Lots of things make me wary, but I have learned to stay away from some red flags: 1. No Github / open source development. Sure there are coins out there that did well with private source but the presence of an active github with code helps me identify ICOs that will actually release a product. Exceptions to this case are people who fork other code bases and make minimal changes, but you can generally identify these by looking at the source code. 2. Weak or no utility. 3. Very high hyped up videos / flashy flier to white paper ratio. White papers are short and flashy. 4. Anonymous devs. That is why today I decided to join the Oyster signature campaign and throw a few nickels at their coin once released. The coin has great potential (I hate how the web is ran largely on advertising generated funding) and has a Github and decent devs.

I investigate team and Roadmap. How many people are in team? Experience? Participating in other projects? Roadmap must has a clear stages and final goal. I have to understand how team would fulfill the idea...

Now there is a very interesting and unusual ICO, which does not issue coins, and pays for participation in the campaign in the etherium. It's called Milcoin. This investment in agriculture in the Voronezh region of Russia. Most of the team is naturally Russian. Even the study of this project does not give an idea of whether it will be a fraud or not. Although the probability of this is quite high. Especially given its features. Nevertheless, you just have to choose whether to participate or not.
There are just some coins that screams scam from afar. It is just left for every investors to thread carefully to make sure they do not fall a victim for such coins. Every prospectful coin will have a great team behind them and not just some random team that apparently looks like they want to suck you dry. There are some coins I have invested in that obviously does not have a very huge known team but looks serious and already have a product, with a lovely idea they are willing to build, I can always give such a shot egconfido but there are just some that won't even give you anything to capitalize on and I really do wonder how people tend to fall for them, like they used voodoo on them or something.

I've been reading up on an upcoming ICO called 88 Coin. They are promising some real pioneering in Crypto. Saw them listed on ICO Alert.
Seems like a good bet. Any thoughts from you all on this one?

I look first for the rating of the project on icobench--most of the time a rating of 4.0 has a small chance to be a scam. You also might want to consider reading their whitepaper to understand more about the team and learn what the project really wants to achieve. Most of the time, unbelievable goals which are too farfetched would be your tell.

My technique before joining an ICO is to check who is the campaign manager then I will review his forum rank and trust reputations. I choose the ranks of legendary and hero with no negative trust because i believed a good campaign manager is always to see or review the ICO carefully if not a scam or ugly because his reputation is at stake. Most of the good campaign manager are commonly hired by the legit and good ICO that is why i have my good campaign manager in my list.

Yes doing the analysis is the best thing to do, you can be smart in choosing the right coin and not. I may disagree with the review on youtube because it can be manipulated, I am more amenable when looking at the reviews in this forum because there are some members who have a good reputation so I can see which information is reliable and not.

if you think there is a good chance that one of these coins is a scam, it probably is. First thing to notice is if what the project is promising sounds "too good to be true", if that is the case, it's more likely a scam. If the business model of the coin (read the whitepaper!) sounds like it's something genuine and it makes sense to you, then you should check whether that project is backed by a good team as well. If they have experience in the sector in which they try to develop, if they have the financial means to pay their obligations and if the idea is any good to start with. Most of these questions can be answered in the social media channels of these projects, so it's a good idea to simply join on and ask the founds right away. If the communication is good and what they answer makes sense to you, then it's more likely that the project is serious, which means you're more likely to profit out of it.

In my ipinion Worldcore ICO is one of the trusted ICO, I did look for some review of this company , and found this company is legit one. This company has professional team and the development since 2013, and they has more than 7,000 client around the world. Most important to differentate the ICO is to know detail their team founder.
