Please quote prices in mBTC, not BTC. BTC is a thing of the past, we need to adopt mBTC. Bitcoinity.org is very influential, please be the leader!
At the moment of writing:
Mtgox $1.092 Bitstamp $0.978 BTC-e $0.898
This should be by default, as bitcoin newbies would be unlikely to change the default.

I think that we all should start to talk about mBTC (millibitcoin) instead of BTC, in order to continue Bitcoin adoption. What do you think about it? In my opinion, it would be a very good change in bitcoinity.org/markets... The price would be 1,08 USD/mBTC. This feature request gets my vote too, just have it as an option under preferences so as not to annoy the traditionalists too much Ok, it could be just an option, but in my opinion it should be the default option. People who know Bitcoin right now see "1080 USD" and they get scared. (I hope you understand me, I'm not a very good English speaker)

I prefer normal BTC... I also dont get the point why exchanges should show mBTC?
Just because its high? Does Dow Jones use mPoints? (16.097,33) oder the DAX(9.382,77)?
I don't get the point, why you should spread confusion...

People want to buy 1 unit of something, and a lot of them think: "I can't afford 1 bitcoin!", because they don't even imagine that they can buy just "0,023 BTC". Many people don't like decimal numbers. It's much more easy to use mBTC. ¿How much is a coffee, 0,001 BTC? Most people prefer to say "1 mBTC", is just more natural. This is not an index, this is not "Dow Jones". This has to be a coin that people use everyday in their local shops. We all say "3 mm" when we are talking about a small thing, instead of "0,003 m". Using mm or mBTC is the natural option.

i can confirm this! it's much more convenient, to spend 8 mBTC for a pizza, than 0.008 BTC. i'm trying to get my friends to buy some BTCs and so far only very few bought some (for 180 - 250$). since BTC hit the 500$ mark, nobody wants to buy bcs most of them can't afford to lose 500$. i keep telling them, that they can easily buy a fraction of a BTC but nobody wants to have a fraction!
if more and more services would change to mBTC, it would be much easier to convince new adopters!
somebody has to be the first and a lot of my friends are tracking BTC prices via bitcoinity!
but when i think about it, the most important part right now is to make spending easier.
adoption is rather quick anyway but the price will drop badly if the spread between pure speculation (mostly hoarding) and real use will grow further apart in this exponential way.
and for spending it's even more importand, to have numbers that are easy to deal with! even for me these always changing 0.00x prices are annoying! and i'm spending most of my free time with bitcoin since more than 1.5 years! none of my friends would ever think about spending even the tiniest fraction of their precious 1-3 BTCs. if they had 1000-3000 mBTC things would look different!

and one other thing: i switched to bitcoinwisdom bcs bitcoinity is down or slow as hell half of the time. i'd like to use bitcoinity again for obvious reasons. are there any plans, to increase bandwidth? would a dedicated donation help? or maybe a call for donations to solve this issue?

It's not something I'm super confident about and of course I don't want to scare users, but yes I already decided that there will be switch to mBTC as default on bitcoinity (with option in preferences to switch back to BTC). It should happen pretty soon.
Regarding slowness, I already did throw some more hardware at it and it should be better (is it?), other than that I still have some optimizations left but I need to change architecture a bit because 1Gbit/s turns out to be a bottleneck at certain points.
Also it's kinda hard to focus on coding and doing useful stuff having these bitcoinity charts opened..

Maybe you could put the BTC price in tiny print beneath the large price display... that might help to prevent confusion.

Great Stuff - Thanks comboy, for such a useful resource - Glued to it - and for taking the step to pioneer the mBTC piece. Should make it a bit easier to understand for new arrivals. Loving the site, Thanks again!

Awesome, we need to shift this view in public awareness. I think you doing the step is a large factor!

What is going on with http://bitcoinity.org/markets/bitstamp/USD ? It shows huge volume for the past 3 hours but no other charts for bitstamp show this. Also - why is the bottom chart not updating anymore?

Holy shit that was a huge fuckup. I'm sorry about that. And thanks for noticing and letting me know. Duplicated trades are removed now, it may take a moment for volume bars to get fixed on 3d/7d charts (I'm about to clear cache now). That was super lame. Once again sorry.

Thanks for switching to mBTC - I have been waiting for this! One request though - could you fix the market depth price labels to always show 3 decimal places now? Maybe it's just me, but seeing 1.1, 1.125, 1.15 causes me grief for my brain to process! Would be easier to read if it was 1.100, 1.125, 1.150 (IMO)

Now the numbers on the vertical axis have from one to three digits (1 1.1 1.12). Is it possible to keep the trailing zeroes? (1.00 1.10 1.12). IMO, it would look much better. OOPS. Haven't noticed the previous message

Is comboy aware that the https endpoint is no longer working correctly? I've been pulling my hair out for days trying to figure out what's wrong with my browser. Thought it was just Chrome, but it's Safari, too. Try https://bitcoinity.org/markets All text, no graphics, no styling. Or perhaps I should ask, was this change to the unsecure URL announced and I just missed it?
