I don't think that bitocin will ever be true mainstream. I don't even think this was original idea or the goal at the beginining. Also by its nature bitcoi can't become mainstream curreny like fiat and can't be base for the global financial system, this will not be functioning.
With time bitcoin will become more regulated, more adopted and more integrated into businesses but it will not become mainstream currency.

Being a part of mainstream ,bitcoin wanted to get more popular and acceptable in all over the world and every one need to give always first importance in investment feeled ,this situation lead bitcoin in to being a part of a mainstream.Reduction in transaction fees, possibility of loss and time helps to catch the goal as being a mainstream.

We have heard the term 'mainstream' every now and then in connection with Bitcoin and cryptocurrency for that matter. It has been a very good topic in this forum and even in social media. Apparently, Bitcoin has not yet been considered to have passed the mainstream status all because only a certain percentage of the population have heard about it and got into it...even with the continuing coverage of the mainstream media and some famous personalities also getting into Bitcoin and even endorsing its adoption.

Now, am wondering, when can we say that Bitcoin is already part of the mainstream? Should we require a billion people to be holders of the coin? Or maybe the value of Bitcoin to have surpassed that of Facebook or Google? Or would it be the whole of your neighborhood already have some Bitcoin in their wallet app?

Please share the kind of scenario you think must happen before we can say that Bitcoin is now part and parcel of the mainstream population...
It is verge the bitcoin to be holding by billions of people in future, the value of bitcoin doesn't basically require to have surpassed economy value of major firms such as google, facebook but of course the portion of bitcoin adopters is required.
The developed countries must collaborate with bitcoin in order to make it mainstream.

Mainstream is when the institutional investors from first world countries move in.  Until then we can all make a shitload of money.

Bitcoin becoming Mainstream is going to take a few more years, all factors that you mention will take place because there is a relationship between one and the the other. Like for example like you said, one billion people be holders of bitcoin, they will be having bitcoin in their wallets, and more the people get involved with bitcoin more demand rises and so does the price and hence it becomes mainstream.

I don't think this was unique thought or the objective at the beginining. Likewise by its tendency bitcoi can't move toward becoming standard curreny like fiat and can't be base for the worldwide money related framework, this won't work.

I don't think that bitcoin is already in mainstream. Not all people have knowledge about it. Some people still think its a scam. To say that bitcoin is already in mainstream is when we can already use it like a cash or physical money. Malls, online stores, banks must first accept the use of it so that people would be encouraged to used it putting it to mainstream. Endorsements and advertisements will be a big help to make it more popular recommendations are also the best.

Bitcoin can be said to be "mainstream" when everyone in the world has Bitcoin. Can you imagine if every person holds Bitcoin and tells about Bitcoin every day. Of course we would consider Bitcoin to be too "mainstream" to talk about. However, please note that "mainstream" is not suitable for Bitcoin. Smiley
When bitcoin become popular and become able to be utilized by simple majority of the world population as well as a topic in the media houses across the world so that time we can say that bitcoin has become a “Mainstream”. It is also necessary for bitcoin to be called a mainstream to recognize himself being a legal currency by countries at least in half of the world’s countries.

I think bitcoin is growing in correct/best direction to become a mainstream and hopefully bitcoin will acquire his destination soon.

I think bitcoin is the mainstream now by just simply looking how its market value skyrocketed to 6K USD from almost nothing since it was created by Satoshi Nakamoto.
I also think the impact of bitcoin's absence if bitcoin is going to shut down now. With that void left by its absence, we can say how important bitcoin is in the crypto world and that what made this digital coin the mainstream currency.

First of all mainstream means to be accepted by all people or it trends in the country. So in this defenition, we know that the bitcoin is not be the mainstream because there's many country still banned the bitcoin and illegalize it. So begore it mainstream we need the bitcoin can be accepted by all country. I dont know when it happen because if oir country will unite maybe its happen

I see a few things suggesting BC is already mainstream:

1. Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan advise their clients to invest in it

2. Japan has a liberal legal framework in place

3. Trading of BC futures and ETFs is about to happen

4. You can't open a mainstream newspaper without finding an article on BC

Oh, and the fact that some countries try to ban it is just further indication that it has become so big that governments fear it; they fear the loss of control of a currency that shows how devalued their fiat currencies have become.

If BC were insignificant, they would not bother.

If this is a dream for bitcoin then we will need for the government to accept bitcoin. But as we all know, they won't let banks be ignored and by that they will need to regulate it. So if the mainstream is a goal, then regulation should take place too. I am guessing no government will allow bitcoin for free. Especially with the price today. They either regulate it or ban it.

It is far from being standard or standard. It can be, once it fulfills a few conditions. Bitcoin ought to be accessible for everyone, front line and non tech customers, ought to be open in any country, even the poorest one which isn't that open comfortable point. It also needs the regard it has now or considerably more prominent. At the point when each one of these conditions are accomplished bitcoin will push toward getting to be noticeably standard.

i think that bitcoin is now already a mainstream because more people are now using it and recognized it globally although some countries arent still accepting bitcoin to be legalized for some reasons. but i guess bitcoin can be really called or termed mainstream if it was been accepted as a payment tool worldwide without any doubts for the banks and governments that it can make a hindrance to them.

Yes, I am very pleased with the trend of bitcoin distribution among people of different ages and professions. More and more news and jokes on social networks can be found about him. But I do not believe that you need to hurry up and buy coins for all of humanity. Everything has its time. Everything should be gradually and smoothly introduced into the life of ordinary people. Otherwise, there is a risk of non-acceptance of bitcoin by the population.

It's getting closer to mainstream, but until it is as easy for people to use as Fiat and regular banking, it will remain more in the realm of techie types.

Obviously the institutional investment will help in many ways as far as accessibility. Some of the projects out there to make it more user friendly to the average person will be key.

I think when we can consider bitcoin as an mainstream currency now in terms of popularity it is already well known various countries especially here in south east asia where most countries already adopted bitcoin. To become mainstream bitcoin needs to become popular and it has already achieved all we have to do is improve it.

To become mainstream bitcoin needs to become popular and it has already achieved all we have to do is improve it.

Its already popular in some Asean countries but to be true mainstream. I think all parts of the globe should used bitcoin. And I think we are less than 10% of the total global population, so for me we are not yet mainstream. But how can we become mainstream if the price is going up? How can a ordinary people buy bitcoin and used it to their advantage? Maybe it would really take several years before we can call bitcoin being used by mainstream and ordinary citizens like us.
