There is even a guy in the forum that owns a porn site focused on BTC, i think he goes by the site's name "BTCPorn" or somthing along that line.
Haha. I'm the new porn guy in town pal.  Cheesy
That other website is hardly a porn website if you ask me.

Not a single site ask proofs of age
Porn sites just ask people to promise they are over 18
Exactly, because they can always lie anyway.

And they don't care about fluctiation because they profit anyway.

So you're telling me they can either get A) a consistent amount per month or B) some random amount that changes value by the second.  And they would choose B?  And then what?  Do they pay their models in bitcoins?  What about things like utilities and equipment.  Bitcoins?  No, they would have to go to the exchange and redeem them for dollars.

So either they can get dollars upfront which would provide a consistent revenue stream and be used to cover operating costs.  Or they can go about it the long inefficient way by using BTC's.

In it's current state, this would never work for the big porn companies.  Maybe some tiny startup site but those are pointless in making BTC mainstream.

No. They can either get, for example, $10 per month X1000 users or $10 per month X1000 users + $8-12 X100 bitcoin users. In other words, additional consumers. And then exchange it for USD. I'm not 100% sure if that could work, that's why I created this thread.

Bitcoin is known in that neck of the woods, I know firsthand because I personally heard about bitcoin in there webmaster resources back in April and we keep discussions going , few of us that either opportunistic or can appreciate this brilliant concept.
Your name sounds familiar.  Aren't you some former adult industry bigshot slash wine connoisseur?

I recall an 'IAmA' thread on Reddit recently of the owner of YouPorn or PornTube or something along those lines. Couldn't find it in a search. If someone wants to try to find the post and contact him, that might be cool.

Reddit.com/r/iama might be a good tool for us in general. A lot of influential people with disclosed credentials come and go over there.

Jessy Kang explained that BTC isn't good for porn sites because most of their income is from recurring subscriptions.  She's talking about that $1 trial which rolls over to $25 the next day when you forget to cancel.

This highlights the difference between paying with bitcoin and paying with a credit card.  When you pay with bitcoin the merchant doesn't get the private key to your wallet.  When you pay with a credit card you give the private key (the cc number) to the merchant.

As industry likes to chant the mantra "adapt or die" referring to (free) tube site model which is killing the industry, it will need to adapt new business models around Bitcoin.
Still, there are many avenues a site could adopt bitcoins - pay per view, pay per minute,  it's even doable with 'subscriptions' - when user logs in when subscription expired just provide new bitcoin address to renew membership.  also small token payments - pay per clip, tips, pay for day or several days accesses. The positive note that customers will feel more confident paying with bitcoins - no charge shown on cc statement so less likely to get wife mad , no rebills (if site's content is great loyal member will be coming back for more anyway), no insane charges with cross-sells to other sites - the practice that used by some industry members which is killing users confidence in online adult entertainment when it's not fully disclosed. For site operators, no insane high risk transaction fees from billing companies, which means smaller guys can enter and monetize their good quality content without processing hassle.   At the end it could encourage healthier competition and improve quality of content and service in my view.

Ok guys. It's time to inform porn industry that we want to pay in Bitcoins. You have any ideas on how to do it?

Very simple: go to a random pornpage and go to their support suite, explain them that you would like to purchase their premium product but since your wife is controlling the cc and is nosey about every single payment on there that she can not relate something to you would like to buy that subscription using the bitcoin system.

I can probably develop this site for you guys if theres enough demand. Although I don't know if I have enough capital to license videos from the porn studios to start up though. Maybe I can build a platform like youtube and you guys can upload porn videos to share. It'll be freemium based where paid user can watch unlimited while free user gets 20 mins a day or something?

Only thing I'm not sure about is how  "instant access" could be worked out due to bitcoins needing a bit of time to get confirmed - that is a huge deal.

@ricksta, research the industry, there are few tube solutions already in existence.

From what I've seen and learned, integrating bitcoins as a payment option is not that complicated and can be done fairly easily by any competent developer.

I feel like it's a good thing that merchants can't simply set up automatic deductions from your account. All the transactions must be verified by you. WetCoin.co.cc follows the bitcoin spirit by simply requiring a quick one time payment for each video. It's much easier because it means no membership is required and users can simply browse through the selection and pick what they want, without giving out any of their personal information.

Only thing I'm not sure about is how  "instant access" could be worked out due to bitcoins needing a bit of time to get confirmed - that is a huge deal.
Transactions should never take more than a few minutes as long as you send a reasonable transaction fee. It's quite quick and efficient if you use the MyBitcoin payment gateway, similar to paypal.

See, this is what I like about bitcoin, technically anything is solvable even such thing as "instant access"  Smiley

I've had these two sites developed, but so far haven't had time to organise some real good content for them:

Porn industries are always right behind the newest technoledgy...
DVD, 1920P, 3D... Next Target: BTC!

Yeah, the only videos I can get to stream on my iphone are porn... 100% serious.

I think an ambassador of bitcoin should get started on a marketing blitz to some of the major porn sites and get them setup.

porn industry was the reason vhs overtook betamax.
it is also where emergent technologies like sony with bluray go to do secret testing.

Trust me, if bitcoin proves to be stable, there will be no shortage of adult businesses using it (and probably offering a nice discount). Not because of the anonymity factor and not because porn producers are Austrian economists, but because you can't charge anything back.

Chargebacks are a HUGE deal in the porn industry, and eat into profits by a ton, way more than any other industry (for obvious reasons). It will be a matter of there being some easy to use bitcoin processing services that essentially can load up bitcoin time instantaneously (though then they might be open to chargebacks, so should be interesting)
