Disparities similar to this have been ongoing for 30 minutes, continuing at this moment.
Who's arbitraging these exchanges?

volume is too low to make decent money. It's not like you can buy 100 BTC on tradehill and turn around and sell it. You might find 1 to 10 bitcoins for the 16.90?

I've gotta say...I tried TH when gox came back up but wasn't trading yet.
I'm quite finished with TH now. Yuck. They didn't mess with my data (so far as I know) but as a trading interface it's beyond weak.
Without a colossal rebuild, I don't see a lot of business moving permanently to TH. Just my opinion as a small time miner/trader. The level of skin I have in this game is pretty low.

The problem is liquidity. Every single other exchange is small fish.
Consider that Mt. Gox got more volume in 3 hours after opening than all other exchanges did in a week.
2 days after opening Gox volume will already be much past the 1 month average of Tradehill.

Remember the trade fees are collected *per trade*, not at the end. That's annoying for arbitrage, the exchanges get a large portion.
I just checked tradehill for arbitrage and... well, there is some money when people go nuts, but the whole thing is quite a hassle and the large volumes aren't trivial to get.
Stupid thing is: I have to change back into BTC in tradehill since they can't pay me fiat decently, so if buying/selling doesn't even out statistically, I have to pay the fee twice when doing arbitrage.
Also, it's a hassle to deal with the tradehill fee system. Basically, you need a friend to get the referral link from, so you don't lose the money paid to the referrer. Bleh. This stuff is all not very nice for arbitrage if you're in for bigger sums, I guess that's why arbitrage isn't functioning well.

And a few moments ago, TH was at $17 and gox at $16.5.
It goes back and forth.
Yes, TH has less volume than gox but not as much less as before gox got hacked. They were previously 10x TH's volume. Now they're more like 4x.
Things will stabilize, you'll see.
Othterwise, just buy BTC on the lower priced exchange and sell them on the higher priced one!

Can't you take your fiat in dwolla pretty easily?

The 18 and the 15 seem to be some kind of glitch... I had a buy order for 15.5 which didn't get filled.

I cashed out buy buying BTC at Tradehill and moving to Mt. GOx. I did get a slightly better price in the end but it took an hour or 2 to be able to buy 50 BTC and another 2 hours for the 90 I sent to my Mt. Gox account.
Yeah I made a few bucks, but it wasn't quick enough for me to pounce on a quick opportunity on Mt.Gox

This page does a good job of spotting these sorts of opportunities. And, yes, having your accounts already funded is key to being able to grab these deals before anyone else. http://nyse-group.de/bitcoin-arbitrageSomeone will automate this and make a small but steady income out of it.

OP is on crack.
TH BTC/USD prices are consistently higher than gox.
Anyone can verify this by just taking a look at both exchanges at random points during the day.
Nothing wrong with crack, but do be careful when driving.

Can't you take your fiat in dwolla pretty easily? Dwolla is US only Paxum coming very soon. Hopefully that will help with the fiat. We're going to have it tied in to the API before we launch it so it should be nearly instant. We're looking at other options as well and read all the feedback that we get. We're looking at a major site revision and are currently working on it. You're going to see big changes soon. We've hired more developers and we're going to be putting it out as soon as it's safe and secure. The API is now live and if you need access send an email to info@tradehill.com-Jered

Right now I can only make use of libertyreserve and its a pain on tradehill.

Paxum coming very soon.
Googling for both "europe site:paxum.com" and "euro site:paxum.com" yields 0 results. Doing "eur site:paxum.com" gives 2 results, both under the "Developers" section. Am I missing something? (plus, fees for loading/withdrawing funds are $50)
