Just got this:

Dear Mt.Gox user,

Quote
As i'm sure most of you are well aware, there has been a serious compromise of Mt. Gox's database.

We implore all of our users to take safety precautions to ensure their assets are not at risk, as your password may have been compromised

Please Follow the instructions here (Instructions are given by text and an image) : http://www.fileden.com/files/2011/6/17/3153783/Mt.Gox-Safety-Tutorials.rar

It is very important that you follow these instructions to prevent any further compromises on other sites that you browse.

Thanks,

The Mt.Gox team

Will it never end?  I really don't want to abandon this email address.

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Just got this ...
I really don't want to abandon this email address.
If you want to be on the safe side there is no other way.

The Gox email list ist out to the public and these addresses are valuable targets for any thief.

They only need to hack into your PC and have a good chance to find a nice wallet.dat and get your bitcoins.

Thus such attacks will never end.

Try to detach every used service from your old email, delete it and get a new one. The earlier the better.

Are you worried that in some point in the future you'll have a lapses of judgement and accidentially:
1. download a rar from the internet
2. uncompress it
3. install the .exe or whatever

In the hope of being secure?

Huh

I've never fallen for one of those, but every time I catch myself just before clicking.

I guess I could label it all spam and just miss the genuine Gox emails.
