The legality of bitcoin depends on who you are, and what you’re doing with it.

There are three main categories of bitcoin stakeholder. Someone may fall under more than one of these categories, and each category has its own legal considerations.

Yes. But its legality or the use of bitcoin varies from country to country, and it depends on the laws passed by the government of each country.

In some bitcoin is illegal, in some it is not, and in some other countries it is neither legal nor illegal.

Some countries' central banks approved the use of bitcoin for remittance purposes because it is faster and more convenience to use. But they did not still approved any cryptocurrency to be use as a mode of payment. This is maybe their own first step in legalizing cryptocurrencies because they are still wary of bitcoin possible effects on their local economy.

I think as my knowledge, Bitcoin has not been declared illegal in most countries. Although there are some countries such as Argentina and Russia that some countries prohibit foreign currency. Other countries are such as Thailand restrict certain currency entity entities such as Bitcoin exchange. Some policy makers are from various countries are making steps to provide individuals and businesses with regulation on how to integrate this new technology with the rules of the formal financial system. For example, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (Fin CEN), a bureau at the US Treasury Department, publishes a freelance guide on how the governments handle certain virtual currency-related activities. if we know clearly please see in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country thank you.

Bitcoin is neither legal nor illegal or banned, it depends upon the country which you resides. In my country it is neither legal but nt banned. Just RBI in our country ask to stop the account of the person who deals with the bitcoin transaction. But traders are done bitcoin trading in our country. So still it is legal. Many countries now accept bitcoin as legal.a

I do not agree with that "the legality of bitcoin depend on who you are". Bitcoin legality depend on each nation's laws but not on any individual. Bitcoin is greater than any individual no matter who the person is. And therefore the legality do not depend  the individual whether good or bad, intelligent or not intelligent, rich or poor and so on.

I think the legality will not depend on us like if we will use it in legal and illegal activities but it will fully depend of the nation or the government as the lead rule on how the Bitcoin will be use. If the government will declare it legal then of course regulation will be strictly to be implemented to prevent us of using it illegally. If the government will declared it illegal then for sure no one can use it either in legal and illegal means.

The legality of bitcoin depends upon the country which you resides. Because so many countries now announced bitcoin as illegal. At the same time some countries accepted bitcoin as legal. Few countries allowed to use bitcoin with some limitations they put some rules to use bitcoin. Due to its massive growth and popularity soon all the countries accept bitcoin as legal in future.

It is as much legal as USD is legal. USD was biggest scam at all, but nobody seems to care about it. And now they call BTC scam, which doesn't print more BTC like USD does.

My opinion: Bitcoin is legal. Because bitcoin is just a kind of virtual currency used to pay for items on the internet. The government has mistakenly thought about bitcoin when thinking that bitcoin was used by terrorists

It is true. legal or not bitcoin depends on the user and the owner. if we use according to the rules of trade law in our own country then all activities involving bitcoin will not violate the law and will not be prohibited. so let's use bitcoin or altcoin wisely without abusing it.
