so are we getting bitcoin gold from blockchain.info or not? i guess we wont know until they let us know. Also my btc is in blockchain.info wallet right now, if i switch the over to electrum wallet will i still get the bitcoin gold from blockchain.info ?

Pretty sure they'll do it just like they did it with Bitcoin Cash, which is they'll automatically make it available to you.

Though I didn't receive my BCC from my blockchain.info wallet because I only put my bitcoin last week of August, they have some notification at the upper right corner that if you have a bitcoin at your wallet, you will receive a BCC.
I think i was not really hidden, they have just a late notification because they want to make that BCC works fine with the platform.

Why don't you just go by the easy way ?
Download electrum and send your bitcoins to that wallet because you must have access to the private keys of your address that has bitcoins in order to be part of the snapshot.

I notice that I'm able to access a hidden away part of my profile on the website to access Bitcoin gold, and I notice my balance of BTC has remained in tact..
This sounds a bit dramatic that it's a hidden part. If they haven't announced it officially, it doesn't exist.

Bitcoingold clearly stated the following on their website:

Quote
Any secure Bitcoin wallet that gives the user exclusive control of the cryptographic private keys is a suitable location to store your coins prior to the October 25 fork. Some wallets may offer you direct access to your BTG, while others may require you to take additional technical steps. Verified wallets that support BTC and BTG side-by-side will be listed on the Bitcoin Gold home page. We will publish guides for retrieving BTG from the most popular wallets, including Bitcoin Core, Electrum, Mycelium, hardware wallets, paper wallets, and more.

What would changing a wallet solve the PO s problem. Or you are just desperate to push your own agenda? This is pathetic. You are pathetic.

I really can't believe blockchain.info are going to bother expending time and staff on a bullshit fork that probably isn't going to happen anyway.

Users have a seed. If there is a btg wallet then all they have to do is import it.

The more I understand about this SegWit2X hostile takeover attempt, the more I agree with your sentiment.

Do you even know what the poster is asking here or you just want to appear smart by giving answers of something you know nothing about? This person is asking about Bitcoin gold. What's the relevance of Segwit2X as per your answer?

I think they will wait until after the fork, when everything settle and a secure wallet API for Bitcoin Gold are tested and found to be secure enough for people to withdraw their Bitcoin Gold from their system. I hope they keep it simple, without you having to expose your seed to be able to do this.

Developers like to make things complex and this makes newbies vulnerable to attacks from Hackers or scammers who will exploit this confusion and uncertainty for their own benefit. ^grrrrrrr^

Ok, so I use blockchain to store my wallet.

I notice that I'm able to access a hidden away part of my profile on the website to access Bitcoin gold, and I notice my balance of BTC has remained in tact..

It appears that I now own both BTC and bitcoin gold?

This makes sense, because my wallet would contain the same data on both blockchains. Therefore, I'd be able to access the wallet on both blockchains and send or receive from each while not affecting the other.

Am I missing something here? I've been reading about some people saying that blockchain.info will be converting everthing to bitcoin cash, which of course I don't.

May I suggest in future that you put your coins into a desktop wallet. it's generally safer and when a fork comes blockchain.info might not accept it.

Last time they added BCC on 03.10.2017 so in two months after 01.08.2017 hard fork.
So if they won't add BTG by the New Year I will give up waiting and export my private keys into BTG wallet.

As #1 online wallet and "be your bank" and stuff they should really work faster or post a clearer statement.
Those of us (like me) who doesn't wanna bother with creation of new wallet and paying BTC transfer fee (which isn't low these days) and exporting keys are really wasting selling opportunity.

Like you said, they are the #1 online bitcoin wallet! Why would they bother with every fork that comes along.
If you want free coins, a little effort on your part wouldn't hurt.
