Thanks for posting this - having zero familiarity with XE, could someone explain or speculate on how (if?) this will help BTC?

It's currently standing on the last page of the currency's . ( http://www.xe.com/currency/ ). So not a lot people are gonna see it there. Maybe if we click on the page for Bitcoin a lot, it will appear between the popular currency's and thus also on their homepage. Maybe the result will then be that more people will know Bitcoin. If it helps a little bit it's worth the effort in my opinion.

Yeah, but too bad both XE and Oanda only offer price quotes for it. They don't have it able for trading. I think when/if they make it available on their forex trading platforms, it will help to bring more stability to the exchange rate.

From XE.com, although it does not say which exchange(s) they are getting the buy/sell from: The rates in our free information services are neither "buy" nor "sell" rates. Instead, they are mid-market rates derived from the mid-point between the "buy" and "sell" rates from global currency markets. Our free information services always list the mid-market rate because it indicates the value of a currency that is not weighted towards buying or selling.

It'll be easy to spot the early adopters, they be slow to change from BTC. None the less the rate should have been cBTC = XBY (a lost opportunity.)

There is a link on there web site to email them with more info about bitcoin. Does anyone want to help them become more informed? Or maybe some suggestions that would be beneficial for bitcoin. http://www.xe.com/currency/xbt-bitcoin?r=2

I also use XE.com frequently, have been pushing for XBT usage, and am very pleased with this update! Thank you XE for making our lives easier!
Now comes the interesting question: where does the price come from? (I read what they claimed, but I want to know the exact sources)

Really nice! I use XE every now and then but for quick currency calculations I use Google, for example: "1 usd to eur" ( http://lmgtfy.com/?q=1+usd+to+eur ). Let's see when we can search for "1 xbt to eur"

I'd buy that for a dollar bitcoin!

Early adopter alert! Lol. He does have a point though, but it also applies to people who invested heavily in the "BTC" naming convention for domains and such. I've already started using XBT in branding for products, just as I have previously used the Ƀ symbol for Bitcoin in everything I do.
