blockchain.info hasn't made an official statement on the Bitcoin Gold fork, have they? I assume they're going to do the same thing they did with Bitcoin Cash, but who knows.

Looks like Bitcoin Gold continues to tank, so maybe they'll not bother with it?

Nah, there still no announcement of their statement regarding bitcoin gold. I think this will take a long time before we'll be having their statement about bitcoin gold. Because the last time they have announced their statement on bitcoin cash it took a long time and if I'm not mistaken it took almost a month they've released their feature on how we can get our bitcoin cash.

There's no reason to at this point. They'll support it if there is replay protection and if there is a live network that has some value. The developers haven't even launched the coin yet, so there's nothing to be done.

I assume that the price continues to tank because 1) the initial hype already died and 2) the coin still hasn't been launched. I think that if the developers integrate replay protection, launch the testnet and announce a date for the fork launch, that the price will bounce. Long term, I don't have high hopes for this coin, though.

I don't blame them. They had o reverse their stance with bitcoin cash after stating they wouldnt be a part of it I guess they are watching to see how things unfold before issuing a statement. It looks a failure already though.

I think they might set up a way to claim bitcoin gold, it might take some time though.. or one can export private keys and claim btg once there's a btg wallet.

You can easily claim your bitcoin gold just like cash from blockchain.info even if they will not add support for it. It is bit tricky but you can do it if bitcoin gold will come up with electrum like light weight wallet like electroncash for bitcoin cash.

They added option to claim BCC like 2-3 weeks back? so I guess they will do the same for bitcoin gold anyway you can claim it yourself with private keys.

But you can't get private key in blockchain wallet. However if you have backup phrase of your blockchain wallet than you can import that whole wallet to electrum. Than from there you can get private key of every address you like by going through wallets > private keys > export menu in electrum.

If you will have those private keys than you can easily claim bitcoin gold when wallet will be live.

You can get the private key from blockchain if you're a legacy user where most of your old address are imported to the new wallet. That's what I did when they wanted me to upgrade to the new version of the blockchain wallet. I still miss the legacy version of their wallet because it's the better version imo.

There's also this phishing activity going on where they'll email you about blockchain already supporting bitcoin gold. thread

As I understood right, blockchain.info wallets can be backupped with seed and imported to other wallets like electrum, isn't it? If so, btg could be catched up in a wallet, that supports it.

Maybe a bitter pill to swallow for you guys, but as long as there is no replay protection, exchanges and online wallet services will not bother with this coin. Why don't people do some effort into understanding what risk they expose themselves to, instead of already counting profits? If the developers behind BG don't see any point to update their amateurish code, why would you expect businesses (because that's what exchanges and online wallet services are) to list it? It makes no sense, but as always, greed is the leading (blinding) factor.

Wvat should be the risk? When we transfer our Bitcoin to another address, before we take Bitcoin Gold, then everything should be ok, shouldn't it? Or what risks are meant? It is free money.

Its better for anyone not to wait of web wallets providers, I have some coins on Blockchain.info in which I claimed via other means far before they implemented it on their own platform. I wonder what would happen and how much I would have sold if I had to wait for their own implementation before cashing out. The price plummeting is not enough reason for them not to implement it and for them not releasing a statement means they are also considering it. I believe they would still implement it except there is a serious threat or reasons why they should not but the timing is what matters now for someone whose main purpose is to dump immediately its available.

They are probably not going to give anything to those who were holding bitcoins before the fork, you had to move those bitcoins to another wallet who supports bitcoin gold in order to receive them.
Blockchain.info is a serious wallet, it was obviously that they were not going to support that useless fork, and there is no way that you can receive them for free now, you can just buy them at Bitfinex or YoBit.
Bitcoin gold is not a serious fork.

I doubt it, i have some coins on blockchain wallet and i haven't received anything too, they haven't said any news regarding to bitcoin gold, so i really doubt it, they are probably not going to give us a fuck about bitcoin gold.
anyway, i had most of my bitcoins on my Trezor, i received my bitcoin gold and i dumped them, but i dont agree with what Blockchain wallet is doing right now, they are keeping those coins for theirselves..
Of course, the coins are useless, but they were free at all.

I am really getting confuse day by day regarding bitcoin gold & seg 2x fork.
Here you are saying THE DEVELOPERS HAVEN'T EVEN LAUNCHED THE COIN YET.

And here what GreatOrchid says? He received his bitcoin gold..

First I read in this forum that fork will be on 25th Oct, then I read somewhere else that the fork will be on 1st Nov.
Two days ago I read in alt section, yobit lanuched bitcoin gold and those who had bitcoin there received bitcoin gold.

I checked btg's site.
There is written the fork will be on 25th Oct when the block reaches 491407
But how come yobit distributed Bitcoin gold early than announced time?

Then I went to blockchain's site to see if there is any news or not.
I found this > https://blog.blockchain.com/2017/10/12/bitcoin-hardfork-blockchain-wallet/#more-12558

OMG another date, 18th Nov when block 494,784 is mined.

So many dates & time & blocks making me confuse..

Though, I think now, I won't be receiving any bitcoin gold from blockchain. But it would be great if they do the same as they did during Bitcoin Cash.

Can somebody explain me the whole thing again if you won't mind? I think I'm lost in dates, time & blocks  Undecided

They won't.It doesn't matter. They will simply allow you to access your private keys with your bitcoins in it and you can export/import into any wallets that support Bitcoin Gold.Going forward you should remember the same will apply to all the forked coins.

Looks like Bitcoin Gold continues to tank, so maybe they'll not bother with it?
Regardless, they won't.Same happened with bitcoin cash.
