How about selling a special initial run for bitcoin paying buyers only, with a numbered certificate or similar for added customer value (and potential future collector's value)?

Not a bad idea , I'll give that some thought. Maybe a printed card to identify the silver round(s) are from the initial batch of 1000.

It would make a nice conversation piece in the future, when a bitcoin buys you a ten kilo bar of silver. A bit like having a slice of the 10000BTC pizza, maybe... Cheesy

hey maybe this is a great idea, sell infintesimally small amounts of the valuable part, and just make sure you market the shit out of it and have lots of "authentication" documentation. See if you can get a ratio of 32:1 grams garbage:value  - That would be an excellent money making proposition since this seems to be something people want lol.

I still just fundamentally don't get why anyone would want to buy a silver coin less than 1/2 the size of a US dime.  Are you going to clearly state what part of the payment is for the metal, and what is the premium?

I still just fundamentally don't get why anyone would want to buy a silver coin less than 1/2 the size of a US dime.

The diameter is 15 mm vs 17.9 for a dime.  So I don't think it'll look that much smaller.

Anyway, I buy stuff that other people think is totally stupid.  Other people buy stuff that I think it totally stupid.  I've got a neighbor that gets boxes from QVC three times a week.  That's ridiculous from my perspective.  But I wouldn't say there's something fundamentally wrong with my neighbor.  Different strokes for different folks.

The idea of including a card listing "issued from first batch of 1000 produced" wouldn't act as a certificate with extra premium loaded on top , rather just something that could be issued for a couple of pence , no more than the cost of a business card

It sounds like a dime would be an ideal way to stack silver in fractional form . There not readily available over here in the uk .

currently a 1kg silver bar from http://www.bullionuk.com/ in the checkout (which adds the vat of 20%) comes to just over £1000.00 .
That in real terms gives a good idea what the metal price of one gram would be with a low premium
i.e. £1.00 per gram.

Current spot price on kitco is .79p per gram , that's the paper price

.79p per gram - is the value in none physical paper terms
£1.00 per gram - based on a 1kg bar (uk)
£1.68 per gram - based on a 1 gram round

The bitcoin rounds cost me £1.22 each plus the die fees of .29p per round . (The cost of the die fees can be spread out over this and future orders).

Minimum order quantities on these will be 10, pricing should be on or around -
Less than 30 rounds £1.68 each
30 rounds or more £1.58 each

These 1 gram rounds should look pretty cool , there a good introduction to silver . Some collectors are switching to fractional silver rather than having large individual pieces . 1oz though remains the best size I think. If silver continues it's rise , countries continue printing paper money . 1gam , 1/4oz 1/2oz silver will become more and more popular as a more affordable alternative to a 1oz coin or round .

just one question, actually two questions:
1) the pictured coins in the first posts, is this the actuall design of the die and design of the future coins?
2) the next batch of coins would be a slice cheaper? (once the die has paid for itself?)

just teasing in the 2nd question, i know that dies have a lifespan, can not be reused for an unlimited nr of coins
thinking about getting a lot of those, instead of poker chips and plan to buy on regular basis, try to plan the spread in time

I'll post the black and White design shortly, the design in the first image is what the face will look like with the reverse having a different background with the 101010010's circling into the background. Easier to see than describe .
If the silver price doesn't rise , once the die fees are digested , the lowest price in theory would be around £1.49 each .
Doing a completed listing search on eBay (uk) 1 gram bars and rounds typically sell for between £1.99 to £3.50 i realise though this reflects the eBay/paypal fees. And also doesn't represent value for money

I do recall buying 100 1 gram .999 silver rounds from eBay around 18 months ago in an auction for £65.00
So they can prove to be profitable over the long term.

I will 100% be placing an small order when you get them. More so just because I want them more than anything else.

Just noticed you have got the Eagles in now as well Fantastic.

Will 100% be placing an order at the start of next month for and eagle or 2 and hopefully the others. Are you planning to take any pre orders for the 1g rounds?

A sample image of a 1 gram round (the slightly out of focus picture gives an impression these are massive for the sizing please check the image above)

LOVE the idea.

Just thinking: If I sent you 100g of silver (100x1g bars), what would it take for you to make me bitbullion out of these?

there's long way from a bar to a coin - first to form into a metal plate of desired thickness, then cutting blanks and finally hit the blank with a die. thus the costs for extra work and recycling costs for the metal plate rests left after cutting out the blanks. if you could mail in 1g round blanks of the right diameter it would be just work + die use .. thinking loud but basically any coin production goes like this. interested in the answer as well.

These are being produced by a third party (mint) on my behalf as ptmhd illustrated well , you really need all the right gear to produce these quickly enough to keep the cost down as low as possible.  So directly melting your bars to produce rounds wouldn't be possible. As i buy and sell silver it would in theory be possible to buy 1gram "bitcoin rounds" with your 1 grams bars if indeed they were .999 branded bars say from cmc mint.  I would advise however to sell the bars on eBay for instance rather than to me a trader. This would give you a better price which in turn would buy more of my rounds   Grin

btw can i buy the other 1g rounds now, ask you not to ship them and use them as advance payment for the btc rounds? you would get your money now, i would get away with a fixed/known price. the problem is that the existing are priced at 1.49. how much should i buy to have 31 reserved?

My 1g bars are Valcambi Sheets (LBMA good). Since I bought them "wholesale" I imagined to just "pay you" in the equivalent (ie silver itself), since that would mean a significant markdown for me (as opposed to trying to rip someone off via eBay, conver currencies etc etc).

So my idea wasnt to have my bars formed to bitbullions, but just pay with silver. silver is money, right?

Yes, that's them.
If you're interested in getting more, I can probably get some.
Also - any additonal costs, or is "trade like for like" covering everything except shipping?
