A strong will is a need for the gamblers to stop gambling because that will help them to decide. And not all gamblers can have that as they still playing gambling every day. Gambling is a multi-billion dollar business, countries and organizations have built their empire operating their gambling network  all over the world, and countries where they are being operated also makes millions from taxes and expenditures of these gambling operations, so I don't think it can be stopped, on some countries where gambling is taboo it can be stopped but not totally wipe out the whole operations.

Gambling is a multi-billion dollar business, countries and organizations have built their empire operating their gambling network  all over the world, and countries where they are being operated also makes millions from taxes and expenditures of these gambling operations, so I don't think it can be stopped, on some countries where gambling is taboo it can be stopped but not totally wipe out the whole operations.

Same as several large scale business, Gambling is a big business where the profit is a promised fact. With this none of the gambling website owners end their gambling businesses until there is some form of regulatory issues from the government. There is no end to gambling, addiction is everywhere. What we see with gambling isn't true addiction the mind that agonizing for the win and get return of the amount spend.

Yeah, there is also situation others will borrow money for gambling, they will always find a way to play gambling.

It happens and in the forum I've seen this truly.

IIRC, that happened on lending but I barely remember if the lender approved. IRL, I've known people who did this including my uncle, a real hardcore casino man.

It is common in gambling way, mostly gamblers borrow loans or money to others, it is an other way to promote the gambling. Definitely gambler need money to play gambling, and during playing gambling, when we have lost our money then once again we wanna start it with borrow money.
But in reality it is not good, in this wise, gamblers is going in a deep way, where he can't come back. So better to play gambling in a smart way, and i suggest to gamblers play gambling with your own money, don't need to borrow.

I guess not. Gambling always was and always will be. I dare to say it's one of the human innate properties (combination of greed and fun) ... the diference is some can controll it but some can't. It's pretty good adrenalin/fun and I have nothing agains people who can afford it but borrowing money just to gamble them is really bad approach (as you said it's kind of illness/drug and serious cases should definitely be treated).
My personal opinion is such people are not very smart (or well educated) thus we can't expect them to fully consider the consequences (they realize it when it's too late).

You can only stop playing gambling if you have no money r change your lifestyle. But once you are addict and you cannot control your emotional and mental, your probably lead into addiction. We don`t anymore refuse to say that playing games might not lead to disorder because anything that is too much can harm us.

Gambling can be stopped but not by all people. It is just like a smoking wherein others cannot live without it. In shot, it gives our life a color.

As long as the environment supports gambling, it is difficult to cure people from gambling habits. But when the environment has been entered into a lot of religious nuances, active and responsive people, religious leaders and the government in addressing gambling, it is not impossible, a little more, gambling will definitely end.
