Butterfly Labs - Offering more, without any in hand.

Quote
Dear Benson,

All customers with orders of 5GH/s (OR 4.5GH/s) products now have the opportunity to upgrade their products to 7GH/s.

Upgrades are added to your order before it enters production, resulting in a customized product. If you choose to upgrade your unit, your order cannot be refunded.

The upgrade link is visible in your account dashboard after you log into your account on our website: https://products.butterflylabs.com/customer/account/login/

Details:
-Upgrade from 5GH/s (or 4.5GH/s)  to 7GH/s for $100

These upgrades will not affect the shipping time of your unit or your placement in the order queue.

Thank you for your order, patience, and understanding.

Regards,
The BFL Team

they shipped 100s 5ghs miners and started shipping SC 60ghs miners too, so things looking much beter.
they also offering chips 100 per order with 50% advance payment and  100 days delivery. They are getting on track slowly. I would say not so many companies will ever come back from where they were 6 months ago.

They need cash flow def, that is why offering upgrades, chips ect.

if you have knowledge in electronics and multimeter, you can make such upgrade your self. Most probably it done by increasing on 1 or 2 volts of power. Sort of overclocking.

Overclocking ASICminer blades is provided for in its guide. Easy.

Power consumption changes correspondingly.
Power Consumption:
70-75W on 1.03-1.05V,
83W on 1.1V,
100W on 1.2V,
120W on 1.2V and overclocking

For BFL miners i dont think theyll release a guide if there charging for it ,even if it can be done via a trimmer or any component tuning. If it can be done via a component tuning, maybe somebodyll figure it out and post it publicly after they start reaching miners with a electronic modding backgrounds. Until then the upgrade might be the only way.

This is old news, I upgraded my order last week. Anyway, Josh said that there will not be any physical difference with the upgraded units, it is just a different firmware and in time someone would figure out how to do it at home.

I got the upgrade because I am selling it. If I was keeping it I would wait and do it myself.

why they would release info if they collecting money for upgrades. point is that, it is the same kind of upgrade, there is voltage regulator and there is inductor on Jally too. IF they can overclock it any can too.

Have they (BFL) started shipping, and which ones?
Is the rate of shipping items more than the rate at which they were ordered?
