Why is an "Ethical" project creating advertising campaigns to pump the price to $10?

Devcoin has been around for over a year, and at one point was even worth $10 per coin.

But wait, there's more!  Even the author, an account named FinShaggy, admits the $10 claim is false advertising, and yet still manages to include MORE pumping in the same messages?  My word, how blatant and shameful:

When I first got here they were talking about it. It got to $10 falsely (someone manipulated the market), but it DID get there. And now that there are so many publishers on board, and the bounties are getting completed, the value should be able to get there naturally this time.

It was $10 falsely, but it was $10, and it can get there again through true development.

agree. it was $10 due to someone failing @ exchanges, ie paying way too much for a single DVC
if nobody edits it, il edit it and add that it was an trade mistake and shouldnt be taken serious.

Just after Unthinkingbit created Devcoin, and before anyone wanted any of them, the price was technically 0.00000000
So the all time low is 0 satoshi actually

i only know about the $10 mistake, im asking Kumala if i can get the trading history of DVC as csv/similiar to find it out if the ppls @ devcoin thread dont know about it.

There is another ethical issue here -- is the author (the account FinShaggy) getting devcoin writing and marketing rewards for this false advertising?   I really, really, REALLY hope not.

tough indirectly because he gets DVC for marketing/promotion management/administration, he dosnt get anything more than otherwise if the false advertising wouldnt be.
if there is someone paying something in non public obviously i dont know about, also discussion about this shouldnt be done since its only speculation/FUD.

It might have hit 30 satoshis and stayed around that price for quite a while. This was back in March when bitcoin was climbing fast, but before altcoins started surging across the board. For a good portion of that month I remember 60 satoshis and below starting to feel normal. I had generation shares at the time and definitely did unload some at that price.

I am fairly certain devcoin is not a scam, but I'm not a big fan of the pumping. It doesn't seem to be doing anything to help with the price, and that is before the outright dishonesty about the price history with the inflated $10 claim.

BUMP!   The false advertising is STILL on the devtome wiki, despite assurances by users above that it would be removed.

What a waste of space, no wonder the price is dropping like a rock.

Actually it is not dropping very well at all, I have buy offers every satoshi all the way up from one satoshi and it keeps on most days not biting back into those, instead it has been stuck up around 67 or 68 after taking quite a while to even eat my offers that had been there.

Well we have admins specially for dealing with bad content now so I don't know why it is taking them so long to get to it, maybe they have been prioritising by thousands of words instead of by specific statements buried somewhere in the words.

I am also wondering if Unthinkingbit happens to be asleep right now.

Only partially correct.  You promised to change it, then did nothing.   Then 2 months later I had to come back and start screaming at people to notice this again, and THEN you changed it.    

Devcoin supporters, you are a big disappointment.


EDIT:  Wait a second, K1773R, are you telling the truth here?  I just checked http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin_advertising_campaign again, and the $10 statement is STILL there.

im no devcoin wiki admin/similiar, as i didnt see this thread popping up again @ watchlist again, i forgot about it
if i wouldnt have done it, probably nobody would have done it. i wonder if i should reverse the edit just because of you being mad at me for not doing something which isnt my job at all!
