I'd love to see Amazon and other big players accepting bitcoins. However, the high fees and slow transaction times make the use of bitcoin not feasible for a company which processes 600 orders a second (2016).

They can, but only if the use of the bitcoin its higher than now and they will not like to do this integration, because they own the AmazonPay and they will not like a currency which they cannot be a partiner or buy the company.

Actually, we can buy goods from amazon by using purse.io, it is a vendors that help bitcoin users to spend their bitcoin. We only need to choose the goods that we desired to buy on the wishlist then put the wishlist in purse .io then wait somebody to buy the good using usd  then we get the goods and the person who buy the goods using usd will get our bitcoin.

There are hundred of ways where people can use bitcoin to buy things from amazon, but they are all indirectly, it is not wethere it is possible or not, it is about acceptence, if bitcoin gets accepted as an official payment method, because not only it eliminates any third party sites for us and removes the extra fees, but it is also more convinient becuase we would be able to use bitcoin at its all potential, and also it introduces more poeple to bitcoin who maybe haven't heard of it up until now, and they would be curious to know about it when they see it on amazon.

Correct. However, that doesn't mean Bitcoin will never be able to function as proper currency tool when it comes to buying stuff (regardless of how low or high the value of the items are). Lightning Network is what people are waiting for, and this will directly result in a far higher transaction processing capacity per second, far lower fees, etc. Ultimately, this will allow people to conduct micro transactions, allow people in third world countries to utilize Bitcoin without having to worry about confirmation times, costly fees, etc. If Amazon is ignoring Bitcoin on purpose right now because of the current 'drawbacks', they will have no reason to ignore Bitcoin any longer with Lightning Network being functional.

Since paypal is basically ebay owned and not accepted at amazon it does make sense they might incorporate a crypto as a way to attack paypal. Maybe they will launch amazon coin we will see.

Paypal and Ebay are two separate companies for a long time now. Amazon has never included Paypal because Amazon considers Paypal as a competitor directly and not directly. If you use Amazon you have noticed this company is not accepting any payment processor. They accept only Visa/Mastercard, gift cards, etc.
They have already Amazon Payment that they struggle to be adopted so I don't think they are ready to create their coin anytime soon.
If amazon will start its own coin that will not be so successful because people already have a emerging coin that gives a lot to the people and that’s the main reason bitcoin is accepted by the amazon and this will give amazon extension for surviving in the upcoming era and more to it this is an ease to the bitcoin use that they can shop from amazon without any worry and in future many other stores will accept btc.
When people have a developed and well progressed coin why they will go for the amazon coin and amazon will not gain so much from that coin so accept the things as they are they made a bold decision to accept bitcoin and many other stores are following them and in future they will also accept this coin as payment and I think amazon will not do any stupidity to introduce any other coin they are making good through it.

It is a payment system, so of course it can. The question is do they need it? it has unstable movements  in the price all the time, so there is no point to do that in the closest time

Unstable price movements won't impact amazon at all.

Please keep in your mind that if Amazon is going to accept bitcoin, they will do it through a 3rd party channel such as bitpay, which converts the BTC to fiat at the rate of the buy point.
Which means that you pay with bitcoins, but amazon gets fiat, they are not open to any changes in the bitcoin price.

That's a possibility, but it's also possible for them to keep a certain percentage of the Bitcoins.
Overstock is doing that and keeping around 50% of all Bitcoin payments they receive, perhaps there are other companies that are doing the same.

I'd really like to see some statistics on Bitcoin payments from other companies, if usage is too low then I don't see Amazon accepting Bitcoin in the near future.
Amazon has the largest share in the cryptocurrency market as it is one of the most famous sites for cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. They don’t accept the coins in their original form rather convert them firstly into the physical money.

Hence the involvement of third party including the sponsors of  the btc are involved in exchanges through  this site which would make it possible for the Amazon to be largest holder of digital assets in the upcoming few years.

Highly possible, Steam did it 2 years ago, Amazon should have already added it but just not yet...
But they need to consider so many thing since Paypal already used for payment method in amazon since then which people oftenly said that Paypal is the only real competitors for bitcoin leading the digital payment
in this world.
But they consideration will be whether the integration with bitcoin could bring them benefits or just merely disadvantage, they will make their own decision.
Paypal will not give amazon high profit as bitcoin and if amazon will take bitcoin seriously this coin will give their business so progress that their capital will be increased and if they continue to accepted bitcoin payment they will surely on the top of online store and can beat easily to the Alibaba premium and by seeing the decision of amazon other stores are now thinking to accept bitcoin as payment and that’s good.

gotta agree with you on that one..

amazon handles alot of low value transactions. bitcoin is not a viable option with their slow transaction time and huge fees. it is more likely they would adopt ripple. a centralized entity with fast transaction, low fees and focused on banking.

yes I think it can integrate. it will always be a time of progress, if not today. One of the first markets to do this business is the share grows. and nobody can stay indifferent to it. Certainly some will do it.

I believe in the future, but now is so difficult, because of volatility! The BTC is so young, we need to learn and trust in this way of payment.
Volatility have not stopped purse.io integrating amazon cart into their system somehow and allowing users to make use of bitcoin.

As long as you are paying for the value of what you are purchasing at that point in time, I see no reason why that should be a problem. It is expected that volatility can happen in 2 ways.

Moreover, this would bring more opportunities for the usage of the coin with more people adopting it. However, I totally admit that BTC is still young and there are so many developments that need to be done before hitting these stages, but it has to be fast so we don't miss the show.

I think this conversation is out of track, no one have mentioned that there will be an 'Amazon Coin', the thread is about will Amazon adapt Bitcoin as their medium of payment? That's it, nothing about Amazon making their own coin and stuff.

I think they are not ignoring it, they're just waiting for the right time to accept it as means of payment. But by having this transaction issues, they seem can't comprehend the time they have to wait just to confirm that transaction, so lightning network will soon fix this problem.

The recent buzz on the possibility that soon Amazon can be adopting Bitcoin as one of their medium of exchange or transactions is sending excitement all over. This can be a holy grail we are all waiting for. However, there are those who seriously look into the matter and concluded that there are still some big hurdles that have to be ironed out before Amazon would really start working for this dreamed adoption.

Seeing how Amazon is the worlds biggest company (or soon to be if not now) and Bitcoin is the worlds greatest crypto it is only fair that they get together and make it happen. I mean this revolution if happened would be

massive for bitcoin and amazon alike and may fuel the "buy a cup of coffee" mantra we keep hearing everywhere. I think it would go a long way to bridge the gap between cryptos and fiat as well as people in bitcoin versus

the people who always question bitcoin.

Yes that how we think but they probably consider and the other side effect. If this comes as bad move (my personal opinion is that it wont be) they will have major loss, they have to consider this option to. But if they finally decide to do this think this will be major impact to both price and addoption for bitcoin and after this think that all over the world major resells will accept bitcoin permanently.

Amazon is the largest e-commerce marketplace globally, and within a span of few years, it has quadrupled its market cap to $532 billion. It processes an unprecedented amount of orders and hence, the integration of payment technology or digital currency would require a prudent testing process and cautious implementation.

At this point, the demand for bitcoin is evidently increasing at an exponential rate, as the price of bitcoin recently surpassed the $7,000 mark for the first time in history. But, the scalability issues of bitcoin cannot be dismissed, since the size of the bitcoin mempool has increased back up to 50 million and the block size has remained above 1.04 MB in the past few days.

Currently, some of the most widely utilized bitcoin wallet platforms such as Blockchain and Coinbase are recommending transaction fees above $1. With SegWit-enabled wallets, the fees would likely be below $0.7, since as hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger stated, SegWit provides at least 35 percent reduction in transaction fees.

But, Amazon cannot expect general consumers or beginner bitcoin users to use SegWit-enabled wallet and enjoy lower fees, and in the short-term, the company may receive complaints in regards to high fees.

I am sure that all of us here are already familiar with that one big hindrance and we are also complaining about this since time immemorial. We keep on hoping that soon this thing can be given the right solution as paying a high transfer rate is actually not what Bitcoin is made for. Maybe Amazon is really just waiting for the right time to come and take Bitcoin but for now they must have concluded to temporary shelve the whole idea for reasons we already know.

There are numerous thread about this on the forum and many meetings have been held by the amazon executives to discuss about this but still they there are no positive signs from the company to accept it although they are showing signs to adopt it.It is the largest e-commerce website with customer base of millions and they have to take into consideration the negative aspects also before incellcating it into their platform because of its volatility and risk involved they might suffer loss. But in coming time they might accept crypto coins
