If amazon is going to accept bitcoin for payments, I am pretty sure that they are going to do it via bitpay, which means that they don't directly accept bitcoins, but indirectly.

They won't keep any bitcoins or have any bitcoin wallet, they are going to instantly convert their bitcoins into fiat right after they receive it to avoid price manipulations which may cause the company to lose money.

I think that it may provide more traffic to bitcoin but it is not a big deal , it will be a big deal if amazon would start keeping the bitcoins they take from customers.

It seems to me that it is too difficult to Amazon decided it. No, I don't believe it. Perhaps it is more our dream than the desire Amazon. Initiative always comes from below. It seems to me that the pioneers in this industry are small online stores. Then after analyzing the situation, the big players will take the decision for themselves.

Surely amazon look into bitcoin as a good market for their business with this technology more people will love buying onlines the market of amazon will increase and they will also benefited with the fluctuations with results to appreciation of bitcoin they don't just earn from selling they will also have the opportunity in earnings thru holding of bitcoins they will receive.

I think it is not that hard to create a wallet. Because for me, their would be a lot of conversion hussle and what if the item is only 3 dollars, you have to pay for fee and they would have to convert it again in own currency. I would agree that they should accept btc but i myself wont exactly use it always if im gonna buy on amazon.

Amazon is the largest e-commerce marketplace globally, and within a span of few years, it has quadrupled its market cap to $532 billion. It processes an unprecedented amount of orders and hence, the integration of payment technology or digital currency would require a prudent testing process and cautious implementation.

At this point, the demand for bitcoin is evidently increasing at an exponential rate, as the price of bitcoin recently surpassed the $7,000 mark for the first time in history. But, the scalability issues of bitcoin cannot be dismissed, since the size of the bitcoin mempool has increased back up to 50 million and the block size has remained above 1.04 MB in the past few days.

Currently, some of the most widely utilized bitcoin wallet platforms such as Blockchain and Coinbase are recommending transaction fees above $1. With SegWit-enabled wallets, the fees would likely be below $0.7, since as hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger stated, SegWit provides at least 35 percent reduction in transaction fees.

But, Amazon cannot expect general consumers or beginner bitcoin users to use SegWit-enabled wallet and enjoy lower fees, and in the short-term, the company may receive complaints in regards to high fees.

Read more here...

The recent buzz on the possibility that soon Amazon can be adopting Bitcoin as one of their medium of exchange or transactions is sending excitement all over. This can be a holy grail we are all waiting for. However, there are those who seriously look into the matter and concluded that there are still some big hurdles that have to be ironed out before Amazon would really start working for this dreamed adoption.

I am sure that all of us here are already familiar with that one big hindrance and we are also complaining about this since time immemorial. We keep on hoping that soon this thing can be given the right solution as paying a high transfer rate is actually not what Bitcoin is made for. Maybe Amazon is really just waiting for the right time to come and take Bitcoin but for now they must have concluded to temporary shelve the whole idea for reasons we already know.

I think if amazon will really start to accept bitcoin as a means of payment then it is a big step for the bitcoin to be acceptable. Amazon will be a model so that others will accept bitcoin.

Since paypal is basically ebay owned and not accepted at amazon it does make sense they might incorporate a crypto as a way to attack paypal. Maybe they will launch amazon coin we will see.

Paypal and Ebay are two separate companies for a long time now. Amazon has never included Paypal because Amazon considers Paypal as a competitor directly and not directly. If you use Amazon you have noticed this company is not accepting any payment processor. They accept only Visa/Mastercard, gift cards, etc.
They have already Amazon Payment that they struggle to be adopted so I don't think they are ready to create their coin anytime soon.

I think amazon and any other major company integrating bitcoin as a payment method won't be too hard in the future, they will have such a way that on purchase the bitcoin is instantly sold off in to the currency needed (USD for example) so that it is almost a seamless transaction for everyone.

maybe soon we can see that amazon will integrate with bitcoin for their payment so we can pay with our bitcoin and we can hide our identity. i think it will be a great news to see amazon and the other store online integrate with bitcoin as their system payment because if amazon is applying this, it means bitcoin will be spreads more among us. i am curious when the amazon will integrate their system with bitcoin and i want to know how its easy to pay with bitcoin.

I am inclined in agreeing with you because if they really wanted they could have done it along time ago as lots of major stores have already integrated bitcoins in their payment methods already. The best way to do it without making losses is to immediately sell the bitcoins they get from transaction in order not to lose money.

They can integrate it, but it would be very hard for people to make efficient transactions, since one transaction is now 70 dollars. They would probably try to integrate some other crypto in the same way. Maybe litecoin/ethereum?

Dont you think amazon itself is smart enough organisation/entity to overcome that problem. I mean they are the best e-commerce in the world and everyone knows how fast they work in the world. If they are seeing an great opportunity thought eh bitcoin then they might have started the work on bitcoin already and might be implementing the codes. Nothing can be states really! but development must be taking shaping already at their HO's. Also, never forget that amazon is always first to adopt kinda of entity and if more people are going to use Amazon because of bitcoin then they will surely break the code at first glance only.

I’m quite sure they can. For one thing, Amazon is a very successful online buy and sell website. I’m sure that throughout the years they have developed a well secured way of transaction. Thus, making btcoin easy to adapt.

Amazon is the largest e-commerce market in the world and almost every mode of trading on Amazon is fast and secure, ensuring the interests of users. If you apply Bitcoin to Amazon then we need to go through many challenges. In particular, the disclosure of user information and transaction fees as well as long transaction time is a major issue that needs to be addressed now. Applying the new Bitcoin method will reduce transaction time but increase the fees on many occasions, I think people will not like this.

Amazon can do whatever they want it is completely up to them. I would highly recommend that they do this to start stashing reserves of Bitcoin however there is a big spotlight on them so if they start doing that I'm sure the government will want to know how much they're getting in taxes because of where their headquarters are located. Maybe they'll go all virtual.

With BTC commissions being crazy high nowadays (and unlikely to drop a lot after SegWit) I wonder if any of retail giants would ever consider accepting other cryptos as a form of payment. Dash, ZEC/ZEN etc.

I think Amazon could easily take bitcoin without any problems, but do the creators of bitcoin want this? Nobody wants to share profits.  On the one hand, bitcoin would be recognized as legal, on the other hand there would be a lot of problems between the owners of these companies. But it is not for us to decide this, of course, what will be that will be, the main thing is that ordinary people could earn.

Oh great that mazing to here and see what coming in the next few months or may be year. If amazon is really in the plans to acquire bitcoin as payment system then man juts imagine how much market cap of bitcoin they will push forward. I mean the user base for the Amazon is just tremendous as we know already and I bet there must be half of the nerds who are user of crypto currencies including me. Lols. So I will most probably (surely ) will use bitcoin to buy things from the Amazon.

As far as Amazon reputation is considered I’m pretty sure this will add up legality or may be more greater status to bitcoin and everyone will try to catch up the hot coin. This ultimately will give more fans to amazon also for acquiring the thing which everyone always dreamt of and bitcoin will have new users too. So everyone is happy in the last.

They have given the information states that they will make the bitcoin payment api in their shopping cart but they did not added yet bro. If that integration has been added you will be able to buy any products without any issues.
Still we can purchase the things anythings in amazon using purse.io site so you will be able to make the payment with the bitcoins.
You will be able to get the credits and additional points whenever you purchases products with this sites.

There is no forcing it, it will be their choice. Whether their profits will grow or not. They have their own managing staff who is doing their jobs to think about the possibilities if ever bitcoin was used as a means of payment in their services.
I am sure they are also looking at a great risk which they will tackle if ever they do it.

All of the online shops can easily integrate with bitcoin because they just need to set up a wallet of bitcoin and announce that they are now accepting bitcoin as a payment and after that then it will be easily adopted by the users of their online shop and they can just sell their product and accept with bitcoin easily.

Amazon on the topic of accepting Bitcoin into their system as a payment method is not a problem. The problem lies here is if it will have a big effect on their sales by accepting Bitcoin as a mode of payment if the consumers will use it instead of other payment methods such as credit cards and Paypal. Of course the consumers here will have to decide if they are willing to accept the additional cost if they opted out choosing Bitcoin as a mode of payment, the transaction fee is really a big hurdle here as these buyers only really want to buy what the items really cost additional cost such as shipping are expected to come with the product's cost knowing that Bitcoin transactions have fees on the buyer's side will be a problem for them.
