I was reading through that article and I'm loving the fact that I'm still in control of my money, instead of having it all in one place like a bank. Additionally, I don't like the banks having all my personal information.

The part that that really spoke to me was this:

"Instead of depositing your money in a bank and handing over the control, you’ll have ownership of your money and data, and decide what happens to it via peer-to-peer financial services."

Plus, I hate standing in line...

I guess you right, but i have a feeling that BABB is different.I assume they are not going to gain much profit from their customers/clients.

I hope i understood your question correctly.
First of all, this project is aiming to serve everyone.
I think it will be most beneficial for people who can't open a bank account for several reasons like: Difficult physical access to branches/technological access to online banking, Over-reliance on cash, (particularly in emerging markets), Customers do not have enough savings or cash flow to benefit from an account.
And other clients who wish to manage their bank account on their own ("be the bank") with utmost privacy.

Currently, When you create an account within the BABB system, you’re actually creating a secure UK bank account.
Which means it doesn't matter how many banks will support this project, this project at the moment BABB is already an Authorized Payment Institution, BABB is currently pursuing a UK bank license with the FCA.pursuing a UK bank license with the FCA.
With BABB you can create and own a bank account wherever you are in the world.
