Very hopefull news for ETH. The future of Ethereum is here.

According to online records, e-commerce giant Amazon, often seen as the “white whale of bitcoin payments, recently registered three cryptocurrency-related domain names: “amazoncryptocurrency.com,” “amazoncryptocurrencies.com,” and “amazonethereum.com.”

For the past few months now there has been rumors about amazon starting to take cryptocurrency. I have no idea what the real truth is. But I am hoping its true. However, I don't understand why they would need to register different domains for each currency they take. Can someone please explain the rational to me?

Exactly, why would they need to register domain names for crypto currencies?
Is there something we are overlooking?

Anyway its a bizzare one and adds to the mystery of amazon and crypto...

The saga continues...

If you saw my posted links, you can see they owned AmazonBitcoin.com since 2013.  Never used it but it is securing something they might need in the future.  That is the difference between them and us, they have the foresight.  They are probably considering entering the crypto exchange business (just a guess).

It is up their alley actually.

No one will knows what will happen because there are so many options for amazon. I outlined a few in my newest YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gm3_9VCxXAc

Yes, is it right they owned amazonbitcoin.com since 2013. it´s unclear why they need different domens name, but if they choose ETH as payment unit as Bitcoin it´s will be great

A company in Amazon's position -- especially amidst the perpetual rumors of them adding cryptocurrencies -- might secure these domains just to prevent their misuse for scams and phishing. I believe that's why we saw them add the Bitcoin domain in 2013 but never did anything with it. Now they are registering the Ethereum and cryptocurrency domains in 2017, now that they are rising to prominence.

I wouldn't read into it much. They are in the business of e-commerce and are mostly disrupting brick-and-mortar retail industries right now. Hastily pivoting to cryptocurrencies makes no sense. With their prominence, entering the cryptocurrency custody/exchange/brokering space would entail massive, massive investments due to the security risks. And we don't want them to add BTC for payments; that's just a massive avenue for dumping the price.

They probably just don't want other people owning sites that could tie them to various cryptos, hence why they bought quite a few with various relations.

Too much speculation here, does anyone have any links regarding a timeline or something more that rumours and innuendo. This will be a huge development in the crypto world and hopefully break the dam and flood the rest of the markets that crytpo-currency is a valid option for business transactions.

I don't think those are hopeful news at all. I don't think they represent anything. Amazon is well known for avoiding at all costs problems with their domain names, to avoid scams and protect it's users. They already own a domain with bitcoin for a long time, and are now "extending" their list. Not saying it wont happen, and amazon might use crypto in the future, but I'm afraid those domain news have nothing to do with it right now.

This indeed is good news. I belief this will greatly bring crypto currencies into more light. If they do not do it now they will definitely partake in the near future  because digital currency have come to stay. It does not matter the blockchain technology they decide to use. Bottom line is  they have accepted crypto currencies.

The other possibility is that they're just protecting their name... i know there's an ico out there called amazon too. If i owned amazon, i would try to buy every domain that is related lol

It seems like each site has different purpose than others, I can say the possibility about the amazonethereum to be the payment gateway for the ethereum transaction only and it will be the same with amazonbitcoin domain.

I read it too, and since this is officially from amazon, I think the rumor is one step ahead to reality already. We will be seeing in the coming years when they rolled out their projects connected to cryptocurrency.

Amazon will end up accepting crypto sooner or later.. It is the future of electronic commerce, and a lot of retailers are already accepting it - surely Amazon wont stay behind too much, seeing as they are quite prone to innovations and optimizations.
