This is speculation so you won't get a definite answer. But I agree. I think the recent growth is caused by alts money flowing to BTC from people who want to get Segwit2X forked coin. I notice that the price always rising within days before the fork/snapshot and immediately going down after the fork. Coincidence? I don't think so.

But of course, that's not the only reason. There were rumors about China unbanning Bitcoin and Amazon to accept Bitcoin. Bitcoin is in a really good momentum right now.

I think the explanation for the bitcoin is super simple - the big money from professional investors are going to the most recognized crypto. It's a long way for them to start thinking about altcoins.

Yes, I've seen on a certain group of traders that everyone is pushing people there to convert their alts into bitcoin. Not all that mature traders so they followed those tips and I guess it helped a lot to make the price of bitcoin reach $7,000. And also there is another reason for it, since we are with upcoming fork on B2x so it's a dual purpose for them, cutting their loss with the bleedy alts and will be getting a free coin.

There is only one group of people that could cause BTC price to spike like this (whales). They have the perfect hook, the forks and draw of free coins. The hundreds here and there flowing in from the sheep could never cause this. That all that needs to be said to understand what will happen when the whales start collecting their profits in order to rebuy cheaper.

This is one of the growth factors BTC now. But I also think that people bought before B2X.

It's got to be all the factors put together - the growing crypto space, the world buying into bitcoin and becoming more trusting of it, the speculation by whales, and traders moving their alts into bitcoin as to make gains on the fork. I think that the biggest factor is going to be that the speculation is driving the price as with the fork more people in general are buying into bitcoin, driving the price up.

My opinion is that the main street society's  perspective towards bitcoin has changed. There is a lot of awareness and more people especially money bags are investing in digital currencies.  People have realized that the blockchain technology is sound.Bitcoin is yet to reach its full potential as more people will invest in it.
