There is alot of money invested in altcoins but I do not think it would make this bitcoin gains just alone. This might be a combination of several sources merged together. New investors, whales, people trying to ride the hardfork train etc.

To some extent yes. But it's also very likely that we've got a lot of new people investing more and more money into Bitcoin due to the outrageous returns that it offers.

I think it is not enough to push this price up. Many have converted from alts to bitcoin, but I think this price surge can also be attributed to new money or players coming in. Since the price surge to 5K, interest in bitcoin has grown exponentially, including those who were ignoring bitcoin before.

I wouldn't say that's the cause of the growth of the bitcoin price. I would say that is one of the methods used to invest in bitcoin right now. BTC dominance has increased a lot in the pat days and is now 61%, so of course that a lot of money is getting out of ICOs and getting into bitcoin, but some "new" money is also coming in directly into bitcoin. As for the cause behind all this, I would agree that it has to be related both with the upcoming fork and the CME futures trading announcement.

I guess so, there are many factors that can affect the price of bitcoin to pump and be dump. But the only thing that we are sure of on this thing is that many are buying with the current price. They don't mind with the expensive price of bitcoin but they want to join the upcoming hard fork so they keep on buying.

but if you turn back time year ago and look at 80%+ BTC dominance and what is showing us current cryptoamket .
There is no real grow in usage at all krypto. Most moves are made becouse  TC is rissing and everybody buys any shitcoin to speculate.
This is not realy cas if BTC is to big maybe those alts are to weak and have 0 economy.

Think people are finally learning their lesson from all the ICOs which have no actual product to sell (apart from a rare few). They see BTC price rising and look at it's history of constant rises and decide that's for them and to be honest I don't blame them.

Also as others have said, the general awareness of crypto currency is becoming more mainstream. The first coins people are most likely to buy are Bitcoin or Ethereum.

and we like it or not behind ETH and BTC there is small economy while others have 0.
In long run i wonder how ETH will evolve. BTC is safer bet because it doesn't change fundamentally like POS vs POW..
with such changes is easier to make mistakes and some people will lose money in ETH again.
But like you say ETH have potential but SEC hitting ICOs  has cut it wings in half today.
ETH is ICO platform today and known only from that ERC20 tokens where you can instant dump some.
