I just saw this on a blog. Indian based blog. How possible really is mining bitcoin through your mobile phone(samsung galaxy s5 to be specific).
From what i saw. It seems that the samsung company set the phones like those hardware miners. Theyve also stated that a 7 samsung galaxy s5 can mine faster than the i7 core gpu. If this is really a success it could really be a big help for us. We can easily buy some of this 2ndhand samsung phones and can easily be in the business

Never heard anything about it, so I don't know if it can mine better than a gpu, or than a i7, but it can't compete with an asic, so it will be worthless when it comes to mining bitcoin. Maybe you can use it for those asic resistant coins (like bitcore or bgold), but forget it if you want to get into bitcoin mining. Even not knowing the technology well, I feel very confidant when I say that you can't mine bitcoin with it, otherwise it would mean that everyone in the mining industry was stupid, and I don't think that is possible of course, since it's a bln dollar industry.

I don't think Samsung Galaxy S5 is specific in anything. All Samsung hardware are almost the same.

You won't earn any significant amount of Bitcoins mining with a smartphone, I know there are some miner apps for Android, but they're a waste of processing power. Even with 40 of them bundled together, I doubt that you'll make ends meet, heck you'll probably spend more on fees than anything. I assume you're talking about this article: https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/samsung-creates-bitcoin-mining-rig-with-40-used-galaxy-phones/Seems more like a cool proof of concept than anything else.

It's totally not worth it. Smartphones are not made to be working with 100% load for an extended period of time. The components will degrade much quicker if the processor will keep the elements heated up for days or weeks and the battery will go through multiple charge/discharge cycles within 24 hours. You'll just kill your phone if you try to mine and the amount of coins mined will be very low.

Yes it's been on the internet news websites and it's spread. Samsung will be releasing an APP that they've made which is specially built for mining with those s5's. But this is not a worth it investment and if you want to try this out better to invest in trading or with real mining rig (ASIC or GPU). For sure that mining APP will just help to blow out those s5's easily. It's a big help to the community since Samsung is now open with crypto and mining but to be wise, I won't try this out.

Theyve also stated that a 7 samsung galaxy s5 can mine faster than the i7 core gpu.
Wow! In that case, a phone could mine at least a few satoshi per year, assuming that there are no costs whatsoever.
I can't find any actual useful information on this topic, but it's most likely that these would be used to mine altcoins rather than Bitcoin. They would have to be running on ASIC-resistant coins or they would still be essentially worthless. There is something to the concept of reusing old smartphones though. From a business perspective it's been overlooked, because I think that people would be more willing to pay the high prices for a good phone if they knew that they could resell it later for a decent price and it would still be used.

When I saw tittle of thread, I thought you are kidding. But looks that not. Still, it looks very stupid idea for me. Phones aren't made for mining and it can't be profitable. It's just fast way to overheat phone and finally kill it. Maybe it's possible to mine some altcoins with phones, but I think it's not worth to do it.

As what i have learned about mining it will need a huge source of electric power so that you could earn enough coins as the process will need to work overtime in which i cant imagine just in a single cellphone. I think you will need hundreds of cellphone in order to create a massive power to support the process but still nothing can beat the electical source provided by the natural electricity provider in which they have a very stable source.

Why will they make app for s5 when they already have s8 with better hardware and especially why will they take care of bitcoin mining? Some people here don't like antminer s7 for mining and who will use samsung galaxy s5? You want to say that galaxy s5 can replace antminer s5? No man, forget mobile mining but can't to not agree you. It's great feeling when your phone charges on wifi, you walk and your phone earns money, nothing can be so amazing. Who said samsung is opened to crypto? Never heared about that.

I think using cellphone in mining is not strategic and not profitable. We all know the that the processor power of a phone is not powerful unlike the real desktop computer. I am also disagree that samsung s5 phone is fater that I7 core GpU desktop. Its a big no way... its better to buy hardware for mining if you're willing to invest to earn bitcoin in the future than to spend your money buying old samsung phone.

i saw that news somewhere in a facebook page. samsung use a lot of s5 to mine bitcoin and it was stated that it is more efficient than mining through gpus but they didnt say that it earns more bitcoin by using those rather than mining through gpus, i believe mining through cp is a lot weaker than using gpus/cpu.

I have been using a Samsung S3 Mini--not for mining, mind you--and it routinely goes through a couple battery lives daily, and I've been using this phone for 4 years now. It's a frigging tank! That's interesting, I didn't know any of what you just wrote, not being an engineer or computer science guy. What I do know is that I'd love to be able to mine bitcoin, or any decent altcoin, on a cellphone. I'd do it in a heartbeat. Maybe one of these days it'll become possible, but I tend to believe the folks who posted here saying that it isn't. Sounds too good to be true.

Samsung are making some sort of advertisement this days. And I will not be shocked that they’re the one making this stories. Is it even profitable? as I think it can’t be. 7 smartphones oh I really need to buy a gpu on my own now than those mobile phones. This is too much publicity for unprofitable ideas, that might just be a marketing strategy from the brand itself.
Does iPhone be next or I’m just waiting to have one for sure I’m gonna try this one. Lol

I have never heard anything like it! it looks like nonsense! as a mobile processor can better mine than a full i7 core. I agree that this is good for advertising for the company, that's all.
