I am seeing a lot of people claiming that their accounts have been hacked. I am just baffled, I wasn't aware of this.
1)To those who have been hacked, do you know how that happened?
2)Does anyone know why hackers would steal a forum account?
3)I now realise the importance of staking my bitcoin address. Now my question is, do I have to use an address of those wallets that doesn't change after using it?

I haven't been hacked but I can answer 2 and 3.
2. Bitcointalk accounts are very valuable depending on rank/activity & trust. They're usually attempted to be sold. Now I don't know what really makes them so valuable but I believe it has to do partly with signature campaigns. They can get higher rewards.
3. You don't necessarily have to stake your address. If you used any address in the past to make a transaction with another user, even if it was part of a signature campaign, you need to just sign a message with it to provide proof of ownership.

Those who got hacked haven't change their passwords since the forum got compromised back in 2014(cmiiw) or use the same passwords in every account.

Hackers steal old accounts so they could easily have access to higher rank accounts that has a green/neutral trust (can be used for scamming) or sell them on the marketplace.

You don't have to use the address all the time just store it somewhere safe where only you have the access to it.

3. You don't necessarily have to stake your address. If you used any address in the past to make a transaction with another user, even if it was part of a signature campaign, you need to just sign a message with it to provide proof of ownership.

They hacked the accounts to make the money by selling these hacked accounts and sometimes they even used these accounts for scams. But things are getting better now with the introduction of security features, as the owner can regain the access of the account if someone changed their password or registered email id.

Thank you very much for your responses. I guess I don't have to worry as I have posted my btc address in one of my previous campaigns. Now it makes sense to steal higher rank accounts to scam or sell to newbies to use on signature campaigns. Those accounts can be very lucrative. I guess we can't be too careful, scammers are everywhere.

Not only an active hacked account,a long inactivity account too.
1)Most of them did not know, but i ever encountered a hack attempt, they will send you a phising link from an announcement or message or similiar to that.
after you click it you will be directed to it.
some of them because of the software contained a keyloger, mallware and etc etc.
so before doing something make sure to double check it by quote it first and then click it,if you want to download a software try to install it in your virtual boxes

2)To get money from it absolutely by selling it cheap, but other than that they used it as a creator to create a scam project,
so people will believe it's a genuine project if they use a Hero Member rank++ to create it.

3)Yes of course,
if you want to reclaim it back in the future you need to sign the message.
which mean at least you need it for a long time(unless you're planning to retire in the next day)

Vulnerability of security before of the website is one of the reason why some people has access to other account and can easily hacked it. Hacking account is commonly use in scamming attempt and can also be use for making money in signature campaign especially when  they hack a high ranked account like hero or legendary.

This seems lately happened in this forum.
First I guess the reason is, some people here fall into some site that gets their information like email that can easily access by the hacker, especially when you download their site to hack and go inside your computer.
They hack some good account here for them to use in some scamming works most especially those who were in high rank accounts.

1. Probably due to forum database leaks which would've happened years ago and the ones getting hacked are those who aren't changing their password.
2. Forum accounts are highly valuable as they can be used to participate in various campaigns which could net quick money in Bitcoin/altcoins.

This my version.
1. Luckily im not been hacked because im new in this, but hackers have the intelligence to this hacking.
2. the higher the account rank gives the better opportunity. Maybe they also selling the excess account into a higher price.
3. Its very important. Its better to stake your address.

well the thing is here in this forum everyone's privacy belong to their self, because I saw lot of member here who offer some sweet amount of bitcoin to full fill partnership forms or any other project form which include "password" column, many members write their account's passwords and then scammers got your password and sell your account and then victims  claim that  buyer steal or hack their account, which is completely unacceptable for buyer. So administration need to keep eye on those who run scam kind of project to seal accounts and sell them.

Hackers sell these accounts in auction board and people bid money according to rank and potential of account.
This is one of the easy money earning method for cheators that are around this forum.
But now both parties the sellers and buyers are in trouble as the forum terms have been changed by admin.

My account was hacked, and I think one of the reasons for this is participation in AIRDROP. Be careful. This is one of the main reasons.

The manager's account is xaxistech and is SEBEUM CAMPAIGN. we worked for three weeks no pay and the account was locked,  no word close to two weeks now. They scammed us.

So what happen if i never have any address in my history posts? Cause i never join any signature campaign ? How can i improve that i was the owner of my account ?

I am seeing a lot of people claiming that their accounts have been hacked. I am just baffled, I wasn't aware of this.
1)To those who have been hacked, do you know how that happened?
2)Does anyone know why hackers would steal a forum account?
3)I now realise the importance of staking my bitcoin address. Now my question is, do I have to use an address of those wallets that doesn't change after using it?
I've never seen so many hack claims before on bitcointalk as in the past month.
It's quite startling.  1) My guess is that people have gone to malicious sites and entered
their info on those.  Then there are those who haven't changed their passwords since
the last big hack, where all the data was dumped (I think).
2) Selling accounts is one thing.  And I've seen high ranked accounts that were hacked
and then entered into sig campaigns.  That's extremely ballsy, if you ask me, but it's
happened.  Sig campaigns these days are very lucrative.  If you've got a legendary
account in a campaign that pays 0.03BTC/week, that's over $200/week.  And imagine
if you were in a poor country and had multiple accounts in multiple campaigns.
3) No.  You should be able to sign a message from a wallet that changes addresses. I've
never seen that be a problem here.

I'm having a very bizarre experience with the information contained in this number two; "
2)To get money from it absolutely by selling it cheap, but other than that they used it as a creator to create a scam project,
so people will believe it's a genuine project if they use a Hero Member rank++ to create it."

The manager's account is xaxistech and is SEBEUM CAMPAIGN. we worked for three weeks no pay and the account was locked,  no word close to two weeks now. They scammed us.

I'm sorry about that. I have see a lot of complaints about this. I assumed it was a legitimate hack. A lot of ICOs aren't paying in time for bounty campaigns. I have stopped participating in campaigns with unknown managers because you will end up being in a scam and not even aware that you are helping to spread it.

I think those airdrops also had something to do with the increase. Some had wallets/ apps where users had to download

1. Not sure, I didn't log in for some months and when I came back my password and email has been changed.
2.Bitcointalk account are worth a ton if it's in high rank, in my case my ID is on Hero which can worth a ton and years to raise.
3.Just sign a message using an old address that you used on Bitcointalk, it should be enough to prove that you owned the account.
