I had been using myetherwallet for less than 2 years and so far I never had a problem like what others faced about their MEW was being hacked. And it was just happened only maybe they clicked some fishing site which cause them to make hacker enter to their personal account into their mew. So don't just click any site it might just a fishing site only.

what do you  mean by the word, one can not do without Ethereum? Just because you are into ETH and you used ETH each and everyday does not mean everyone else is.
If you  are talking about bitcoin here it would have be more understandable, bitcoin is 70% generally used and accepted than ETH.
Please try and do more research about Crypto in general.

It is best to use the MEW together with Ledger. We get many benefits. The private key is entered digitally. On one wallet we have several addresses. And security at a high level.
