Talks with Elon Musk is just rumour from their Telegram chat as far as I know, no solid evidence but it has the same effect as long I suppose as long as it could possibly be true. Would be huge if big players in renewable energy like Musk could get on board with some of the awesome innovations happening in blockchain that support renewables. I have a feeling big changes are coming to the energy industry and energy markets.

I read power ledger and see no reason for it to become an industry game changer, it looks like it knows only the surface of the industry. Capturing (or storing and reselling) solar energy has been properly done in Europe and even in some parts of South America for a very long time now. In some countries, already there is abundance of energy and people are getting virtually free energy plus some income from selling.

So how is this technology now a game changer when the game has already changed because of it?

Branson for Australia maybe but Elon Musk for something old? Hype and rumours no doubt.

This would be only long term projects, which I am choosing to avoid investing because, I can't wait for years even for 6 months. Their goal might not be increasing value of coin as well.

I was very hesitant to invest since I wasn't convinced about power related project at first but ended up getting in early and am very happy I did now. This is a long term hold for me and I expect it to do well for all the reasons mentioned by the OP.

It's important to note that they are already operational. Last year, the team launched the first peer-to-peer energy trading platform in Australia.

Currently hold about 25% of my crypto in power ledger right now. Definitely a lot of potential and they recently signed a partnership with a Thai energy group. A partnership with elon musk would send this thing through the roof.
