I recommend Bitcoin a lot. Most if not all of the others are just clones of Bitcoin that don't actually improve upon it in any way, and are much less secure due to their low hashrate, much more volatile due to their low liquidity, and are almost certainly just pump-and-dump schemes designed to make their creators rich at the expense of anyone foolish enough to actually buy them.

YCDLWL,

From a mining perspective FastCoin currently is an excellent option...  140% plus payout and it was just released into the wild 2 weeks ago...

yeah your 140% profit doesn't include the fact that it's an orphan festival meaning your real payout is much lower.

Thank you lazydna,

It is fresh out of the gate, according to ...

http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency/

all new coin's go through stages of growth.  This one is no exception, but if you follow the charts it looks very promising...

I have been successfully mining this coin for 3 day's now and payouts are fantastic!

I'd say Namecoin has a lot of potential because of its decentralized domain name registration and it's been getting worked on more as of late.

Depends what you mean with "best".

I would be very wary of "investing" in a virtual currency. It should be the highest risk asset in your portfolio. And you should expect to loose your money.
I am talking about bitcoin here. Alt-coins are far less likely to do anything but die. Some have been real attempts, but overwhelmingly they are worthless fun projects.

Try instead using bitcoins as a currency. Then you will understand their power.

Take a look at ripples too. There are some very heated debates about whether they even count in the same context, but clearly some people are trying to use them as an investment.

Heh, yeah, that is the obvious answer. Bitcoins are great, the others are all pure speculation.

LTC = not so stable as btc but it is alot of rumors going around about it going to gox and other stuff and if thats the case then big profit. if not still profit
