The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

i'm having the same issue, no m.2 options in the BIOS, even tho the gigabyte mining page here:

https://www.gigabyte.com/MicroSite/462/mining.html

says 8 x GPU's are supported.

did you ever get 8xGPU's to work?

Ports can go bad on these board pretty easily I noticed, https://www.reddit.com/r/EtherMining/comments/6l286u/msi_z170a_gaming_m5_8_gpu_nightmares/
You aren't alone obviously. Best route is to take it slow, individually test all PCI-Risers and ports and see if you run into anything.
