Which city are you referring to? And how do you know the exact number? Is there a listing where we can check all the bitcoin ATMs in a certain area?
And getting back to your topic: Yes, its a good business. ATM machines charge heavy fees, and if there is area where people use it regularly, it can be a good business to invest in.
The machines aren't that expensive either, but I think one would have to tackle the local laws and taxes etc.

Can I ask which country you live in? In my country bitcoin has been banned and deliberately use it i can face the law, this is really bad Sad

You enter your QR code to receive... insert cash and click send

Just to clarify, you scan the QR code for your Public address, NOT your Private key. < never your private key > You only need to do this, so that the ATM knows where to send the bitcoins you bought. OP, you are very fortunate, some cities do not even have a single ATM.

These ATM distributors concentrate on areas with high volume users of Bitcoin and ignore the smaller markets where adoption is key to the growth of Bitcoin.

That news just identifies wasted investment. Real news would be growth in how many people actually use Bitcoin ATMs.

Bitcoin ATMs are AWFUL. They're not eve a good billboard or advertisement, because they're often in random locations that don't get much foot traffic. When the premiums on buying or selling bitcoin come down to meet the market we'll see the bitcoin ATMs become a useful contribution to the bitcoin ecosystem.

They have their uses a lot of users are not at the level of proficiency to spend the time and effort to get registered on an official exchange
It's like a vending machine a bit more expensive than if you went to the grocery store but it's there so you can get your cash.
(Although foot traffic wise depends on the operator, and where they decide to put the things)

There is no Bitcoin ATM machine here in our country and I don't know when can we have here just like in your country. We just have here ATM machines that when you want to encash it, it's automatically converted into fiat.

Of course it is directly proportional on bitcoins growth. When bitcoin is growing, so as the material for the bitcoins growth will also act. That is a great thing for bitcoin, being known in the whole world is a lot.

I'm sure in a couple of years, when bitcoin goes mainstream, we'll be seeing them everywhere. Once crypto debit/credit cards become available, its gonna take off.

I never understood why people would want to use these ATMs. Going back to old fiat based systems feels odd.

Let alone the risk you take showing everybody in the surroundings that you own bitcoin.
