Well, now that I finally got a card I can mine with (x1 7970) I came back here to see what coin I should mine and..... now that the instructions for making your own coin are out.... ALTCOINS are EVERYWHERE!! (so yah, sorry for asking :3). But my original question still remained, whats the best coin to start mining at this point? BBQcoin looks promising, or maby feathercoin? Advice is appreciated. Again i have one 7970.

Currently Mining: Litecoin, Xencoin, and Worldcoin (Just because its fun!, don't yell at me ;_;)

If you want the noob-friendly answer without the technical reasoning:
  • Make an account here: https://www.multipool.in/
  • Point your miner to port 7777, it'll auto-mine the most profitable coin at the moment on that site.
Everyone will have their own loyalties toward certain coins, this is just a simple solution without getting knee-deep in the muck.

Yes BBQ looks good right now, be aware when mining you mill most likely need to switch coins fairly regularly if you want to be super efficient.  If not just mine and hold through the bad times on your chosen coins.  Most established coins that go down generally come back up at some point.

The advice above is also good advice if you want less hassle while your learning the ropes, doing research or watching porn.

If you're dead set on mining one of these new coins I'd say your best bet would be to conduct your own investigation. Find something that you think is worth your time and energy.

After mining Xencoin make sure to come to PXC the coin of future in my opinion. The developers are really active and there are lots of project on standby to be released soon. so get in quick. Right now I am mining Xencoin as well  for fun.

I think there are two reasons to select a alt currency - one is you believe in its fundamentals and think it is beneficial.  The second is you are looking for the bext immediate coin to min to exchange back into a more established currency (BTC / LTC).  If you are doing the later, while you still need to look a bit for yourself, using CoinChoose to help select the coin right now that is best is NOT a 'horrible idea'.  If you are looking at fundamentals - CC won't help (and isn't intended that way).  Seems to me the "ABC Coin is the best now" without saying "why", don't really add much to either coin selection path.

If that is the case. Then PXC has the most active developers in the altcoin forum and they have came here with planning of years. They completely know what they are doing and what is needed to be done. And I think  if you are looking at fundamentals then developer are the most important thing to look at. If you want to know more about PXC then you are welcomed in the Official PXC thread. Official thread is the best place get info about any coin and there are other people as well who can tell better then me.
