there is no positive future for ripple, lot of hype in 2017 to attract masses but not it is struggling badly. Technology behind xrp is different and it represents centralized coin, 6 mighty banks decide upon the future of the coin. I can only hope to see it 3-5$ value but is will be xrp ath.

Short term, I suppose that XRP would be manipulated. Whatever is in the the best interest of Ripple Labs (obviously my opinion).
In terms of longterm, I would go with Eth

The coin has so much potential. That is really true as regards Ripple (XRP). This is one of the most solid project in the crypto world. Japanese Banks, even some United Nations (UN) bodies, and some solid companies around the world are using or contemplating to use the Ripple technology. But please take a look at the total supply of the coin. It is almost 40 Billion and the market cap is already at 35 Billion USD. This will not go easily reaching $3. I recommend that you ride the waves of this coin. There is more gains in it rather than long term.

Ripple is a long term investment for sure... ! Very safe investment.

when something only has huge rises that last for a very short time (for example a rise only in 2 weeks) and then the rest of the year that same thing is going down or best case scenario stays the same after the big dump, you can not call this thing a good long term investment!

because obviously that thing (which in this case is Ripple) is only performing well for a short time.

Long term seems like not good for ripple since in the last correction ripple did not recover till now.
It mean if we hold for long term we seems will lose huge money so i suggest to invest short term and you can deny then dont invest in ripple.

The price movement of Ripple as you point out has not been impressive lately. So I will suggest that you invest in it for long term bases. Actually there are great potential in Ripple.

There is doubt on the fact that Ripple serve for both long term and short term investment all depends on the level of profit that you want to make. One thing that is very important is for you know how crypto currency investment work i.e when buy and when to sell your ripple.

The average price of Ripple in my portfolio is about 2 dollars. That's why Ripple is a long-term investment for me, I do not think that I will be able to sell it with profit in the next year. But I will not sell until the price surpasses the purchase price.

Steller, Ripple, ADA etc all these coins are good for short time investment. buy the coins when the price is low and when the price will increase sell it don't hold. Ripple went $4 but now it is below $1 don't know when it will increase. So long term investment you can choose ETH, NEO, BTC.

Absolutely it's a long term investment, you just have to be patient with the volatility.... Now, ripple is ranked behind ETH, it's will sky rock soon because it's has many uses to the community.

I think it is a long term investment, the Ripple market situation is fine, no problems that could disrupt the price of Ripple. The price chart of Ripple is also relatively stable. So it is not impossible this year Ripple price could reach $ 3 / XRP.

Maybe if Ripple wants to launch its own platform, it will make Ripple more attractive to many investors. Because they can transact Ripple in a special place. And also do not ever dump coin, because it can cause ripple price down. So be clever in trading and investing. So that Ripple prices remain stable even up.
