I have tried to build a proper .app for Bitmessage for a while, but I could never figure out how to properly bundle OpenSSL. So, I made this guide. But now it's obsolete as a great OS X build script is now included in Bitmessage! You can download the DMG here: MEGA

No. This version has all the requirements (correct Python, OpenSSL, PyQt) bundled in.

Because there is no special code going into it. I have simply run Py2App and bundled all everything needed into a single .app. Personally, I use the python source fresh from Github. But this is easier to get started with as you don't have to install anything prior to using it.

Ok, I downloaded it. Opened the dmg (contains only the app, no installer or anything else) and draged it to the program folder. When I tried starting it a mac popup asked to accept incoming connections => ok Program never started but crashed before anything else happend. Tried it several times...always crashed. (Using MPB Pro / Snowleopard / all current updates). So I am pretty annoyed...not only doesn't it work but now I am worried that there is yet another shit on my mac possibly compromising security.

Thanks for your help. But I'm gonna wait until a stable app will be available.

Snow Leopard wanted to upgrade lately but then I saw the keynote about Maverick and decided to wait a few more months
