I am auctioning off my BFL 5 GH/s Miner with 2 GH/s upgrade and reflashed firmware to 1.2.5.

This unit is overclocked to achieve ~8.2 GH/s.

The unit was received on June 15.

Auction open to United States bidders only.

Starting bid will be 20 btc, increasing in increments of 0.5 btc. Buy it Now for 28 btc.

Shipping via USPS Priority Mail will be free, other requested shipping methods will be paid by buyer in BTC @ current Mt.Gox price.

Auction will end Jun 23 @ 24:00 (Midnight), or Jun 24 @ 00:00. The unit will ship on Jun 24 given that the funds are received.

No escrow please. Winner will be PMed with address to send funds.

Thread explaining the work I've done to overclock/reflash firmware: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=236875.0

Note: The unit sets the frequency of the chips at startup. If 8.2 GH/s is not achieved, let the unit cool and restart it.

More pictures will be uploaded shortly:

Two things that I forgot to mention,

The times are PST (Pacific Standard Time).

The new firmware was tested using the latest cgminer from git. Older versions will show lots of errors since the protocol wasn't fully supported.

Thanks - true,

bidding a lot (but not winning a lot).  I figured to do a remote desktop for a minute or two and check out the unit first to help my comfort level.

I did a deal recently with sahkan for 10/13GH Block Eruptor, he had low # of posts and seemed a bit short in his communication at first.  I asked for a video call using FaceTime/Tango/Skpe to see the units and that really helped comfort level for doing a non escrow deal (talk about nail biting).  He was great to deal with and had my unit the next day.

Thanks for kicking it off!

Another small note: I said the times were PST but technically they are PDT. Also, the site hosting my pictures seems to be really flaky. There is supposed to be a picture in the post but I don't see it yet. Make sure to refresh.

I just finished reassembling the unit.

I will allow you to bid on the auction if you wish. I can do UPS (preferred) or maybe DHL.

To others watching this auction, international bids will be considered but I will only allow bids from users that I feel I can trust. Please ask for permission.

Actually, DHL isn't looking too good. I'm going to limit international shipping to USPS or UPS.

I kind of wanted to keep it since I have other Atmel microcontrollers.

I'm interested in bidding, just wondering why the aversion to escrow? Sorry if it's a dumb question.

Not a dumb question. Quite simply, I've never done it, I'm not sure how it works, and didn't want to deal with it.

It's pretty simple. You just PM JohnK and ask him to escrow. He's pretty much the go-to escrow guy 'round these parts. Though the Bitcoin protocol allows for low-trust escrow via multi-signature transactions, John usually just creates a bitcoin address and holds the funds for people.

I have contacted JohnK to see if he will provide his escrow service.

Reminder: The auction ends in ~24 hours.

Sorry, guys. I've decided to cancel this auction as of now. I'm probably just as nervous about this auction as the bidders are since there is a lot of BTC involved. I think I'll just go back to tinkering with the jalapeno.

My apologies to the bidders, interested parties, and John K.

Auction cancelled. Do not bid.
