We all know that cryptocurrency and Russia have contradictory relationships.

Russia seeking for the way how to regulate cryptocurrency, for example, some of Russians officials claim that bitcoin and cryptocurrency should be considered as "goods" and not a "currency". Also, they banned well known Russian media about cryptocurrency. They still don't want to legalize Bitcoin explaining that this currency is used for money-laundering and illegal business.

On the other hand, there are a lot ICO campaigns in Russia. Almost every week the crypto and blockchain events are organized. And Russian crypto community is quite big. There is project I also represent. So that is why it is very important for me.

Do you believe that one day Russian government will legalize Bitcoin and join cryptocommunity?

It could have happened, everything is not impossible, it is true that Russia has contributed since this year to cryptocurrency and many more, I think the country will be slow in years to legalize Bitcoin and will most likely join the crypto community around the world. .

I think Russia likes the technology and really wants to implement it, but can not do it with the current crypto currencies because they can't handle tax on it. It's a problem for a lot of countries but Russia took action immediately by banning the whole thing. If they would find a solution for it, there is a change that they unban the coin. But I think chances are bigger that they will just invent that own regulated coin and implement it in the society. I read somewhere that they already found a crypto currency that they will use as a substitute of Bitcoin.

Seems like no, the Russia government prefer to create their own crypto currency, according to them it is easier to control it and of course the governments is going to regulate it,  so in the future I don't think the government is going to accept Bitcoin or any other ICO

Well, Russia is a country that doesn’t have a large economy a country which is controlled by predominantly one party in government. This party, Putins Party, wants control over everhthing in the country and doesn’t want to lose the profits they’re able to extract from the country

Bitcoin is a problem for them, I see it being regulated very very soon!

Putin is now cornered like a rat. He will never make a step which is aimed at weakening its power. In Russia at the power that the KGB will never be legalized cryptocurrencies. I am sure that this right will only have those who belong to the caste of his friends. All other Russians will be put in jail for using bitcoin.

Any form of government wants control of all things that go on in their country. You have to also look at it from their perspective. With tons of ICOs going on, more and more people are also getting scammed by them. Those people then complain to their government about it since it is their purpose to protect it's citizens. This is why China banned ICOs, zillions of people got taken by ICOs and the complaints kept piling on, before losing too much face about it the government has no choice but to regulate and since it cannot on crypto the next best thing is to ban it. More and more ICO bans will start happening around the world due to this.

All that aside, I also agree that bitcoin should be considered as a good and not a currency. You can't go to your local supermarket and try to pay with real gold either. Certain things should remain as goods only. Unless we get into so much progress and advancement that one can pay instantly with bitcoin, then it will be the new form of currency.

I saw the press release about ICO regulation in Russia today. Representative of Russian Central Bank Olga Skorobogatova said: "We plan to regulate ICO projects similar way we regulate equity investing today. For that purpose we plan to define new terms in legal framework".
She said much, she sees ICO regulation similar to IPO regulation, thinks to register miners to make them pay taxes ect. I dont think they plan to make cryptocurrensies equal to fiat money, they would rather consider them as value digital investments. So they are making some steps in regulation direction

I heard some rumors about Russian governments being friendly with cryptocommunity as they are pretty established and could as well bring anonymous wealth and lots of entrepreneurial opportunities among their people, being soft on ICOs is one of the way as it just a way to get funds across the globe, also there are several companies shifting their manufacturing heavily on mining equipment and that's another green light on cryptocurrency, maybe they are preserving cryptocurrency as a whole for those communities but still stay a clear line between promoting them publicly as the consequences within a centralized government is obvious.

As far as i've heard, Putin recently said that Russia will legalize crypto, even though central bank doesn't want to agree with that.

ICOs and crypto are very popular in Russia, most of succesfull projects are from Russia so maybe soon this country will become really progressive in this area and will be a 'heart' of crypto and ICO, why not?

Bitcoin and Russia are not in good terms before. But I saw on the news that bitcoin is now legal in that country. But the Russian government considered some restrictions so they implemented different rules and regulations about the use of bitcoin. For me, that is already good as long as it is not banned.

That really depends on who is in control of it, as cryptocurrencies doesn't have to be decentralized.
If they create a coin that they are able to control, than it wouldn't weaken his power but either increase his power.
Then I think it's possible to legalize that particular cryptocurrency.

I do not know much about Russia. But there they prohibit protests, they block access to sites. Putin holds all power in his dictatorial hands. The principle of bitcoin is freedom. Russia will not allow the currency to develop without their control. Control bitcoin - lol.

I'm getting fucking bored of Russia's never ending flim flamming.

One day it's the greatest thing ever, next day they're going to slit the face of every crypto user in the land.

Let's wait for some actual laws and then judge. Until then they can french kiss my sphincter. I've no more interest in what comes out there.

It's like a situation where they don't like it but they will have to accept it in future and they know this, blocking BTC won't bring anything good for them.

I think is naive to think that Russia will legalize crypto in the nearest future.

Bitcoin in Russia is going to be legalized. However in last years there is problem with freedom. Let's hope that Putin won't make taxes for wallet owners and won't kill freedom of mining.

Who can really say for sure? They've been very contradictory in my eyes. Their first statements were quite supportive and enthusiastic about the technology, then they came out with their plans for their own digital currency and all of a sudden, criminals using Bitcoin is a concern.

Russia is pretty authoritarian though. They even have internet censorship in place, so Bitcoin being outlawed amidst criminal use concern is likely to be in the cards.
