i’m about to invest in a bit of bitcoin as well as other cryptocurrencies such as eth, ltc, etc. I’m thinking about making a wallet on a usb drive for a start. i’ve read about electrum but need something for all my crytpocurrencies.

I will suggest myetherwallet as it supports a lot of tokens. Other than ETH tokens, you have to see if the coin provide a offline wallet and what are the options in case of you want to store multiple coins in same wallet. I dont think many options are avaiable if you are looking for this type of online wallet.

As it as been said before, the ledger wallet is currently the best solution.
I wouldn't recommend to try new thing before it's been validated as a strong and secure tool.

I've actually looked into a couple of hardware wallets or offline wallets wherein you can store Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Trezor is one of my top list as a hardware wallet I wanted to buy but I realized it is only limited to a couple of coins so the next on my list is the Ledger Nano, a couple of my friends are using this and it is way cheaper than Trezor and I think stores more coins than that of the Trezor one and decided to order one for myself but still haven't got the package yet.

Do you happen to know why the price difference? I couldn't find any clear advantages of Trezor over Ledger. Hope it's nothing to do with security. Would be interested to know how it goes with yours when you get it  Smiley

I would recommend this project https://miralab.io/MIRA_Technical_Specifications_for_platform_development.pdf. This looks like a good solution for cryptocurrency savings.

The idea of MiraBox does sound better than owning a hardware wallet. Shame they haven't released their product yet.

There's a simpler, wider question here, how to store multiple crytpo online?  Currently I'm looking at adding range of holdings and one thing putting me right off is having to handle multiple wallets, and holding on exchange is not an acceptable risk.

Does the mentioned Mira project cover this?  Is this a gap in the market?

Mira covers offline sending and storage for multiple cryptocurrencies. Doesn't seem like any online solutions will be able to compare with cold storage in the nearest future.

NEVER trust this kind o projects. You can't put your funds into one new thing which is not trusted!

Always be awake while using new wallets. If you have online ones, try to make sure they're trusted ones, especially for coins other than ethereum and ers20 tokens.

It feels like it's better to put your trust into a technology rather than a group of people. We are trying to create a technology that will make it impossible for us as a company to have control over users' private data. We would be glad if you could read about our software to form a decisive opinion https://miralab.io/MIRA_Technical_Specifications_for_platform_development.pdf.

There is no doubt that myetherwallet, or the best WEB-end wallet software, not one, though sometimes very card.
On the hardware wallet, in fact, I tried one, not very useful, but also in the BETA stage, not the official version, experience a little worse.
Maybe you can experience JAXX wallet?
