The end of the world could happen anytime... as the experts around the world provide many ways to prevent it. NASA for examples, they keep monitoring for any space material that can cause hazard if they collide with earth, asteroid etc..
Well the irony is, many people could speed it up by destroying our earth by over exploitation the "earth" , deforestation, well the global warming is the result.. which is one the main factor that could ended this world..

However, I think it is unlikely to happen any time soon. though of course, we may make some bad decisions that bring our species to extinction. How come they know that end of the world is near , i do not believe that the world will end and if that happens all of us  that are living in this world will be gone. I think it will end where no one is expecting it. We don't have time to prepare for this because we will never know when it will happen. We are not even sure if we will still be alive if the doomsday happens. The best thing that we can do is to live like there is no tomorrow. Start by appreciating small things, it will make a lot of difference. I believe that what's written on the bible will happen, that is how the world will end.
