All,
I have an older'ish server that I have laying around that has an AMD cpu, 2 gigs of ram and 1 AGP slot, it's just sitting there in the corner looking sad and unplugged.

Are there any AGP cards that will get me 200+ MH/s?

Is there a difference between the word 'computer' and 'server'? - it's something I've often wondered about.
Does this 'server' have a usb slot? if so then stick one of those usb asics into it.

No not really, other than usage, my original use of this box was for local development as a staging/testing server. It currently has windows server 2003 on it.

In regards to the usb sticks, they are way overpriced and I will not be purchasing any of those till the price collapses to <= $50.00 / BTC0.50

I have an old 6u P3 server with 4x 1ghz cpus, 2gb of ram and a 20gb 10k rpm drive.
The only thing useful out of it was the fans. The thing weighs over 100pounds so I could get some money scrapping it. Tongue

That server would still be very useful if it wasn't 6U.

It sounds like a jet engine. I used it as a game server back in the day, I thought about collocation but 6u is expensive, I ended up buying a blade server for that purpose. The fans in it are very powerful and very loud, one 80mm fan will blow your hair back. Cheesy

Don't think so.  An AMD/ATI 4670 card will do 40 MH/s according to https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

If its a rack case, take out the guts, put in a raspberrypi or something. fill em up with ASICs and host it at a datacenter.

For an old server, especially if its rackable one, the only thing of value is the case (and fans and maybe PSU).

I have a 1U dell poweredge collecting dust...Too noisy to be put near living humans. Will probably re-use the case...

Don't bother. With ASICs coming online and abysmal MH/$ of low end cards, you will never make ROI.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

Linux assumes you know what your doing, even if you don't. It doesn't hold your hand and guide you like Windows.

It's not for everyone.
