The only difference between fiat money and play money is the law. BTC on the other hand, has at least proof-of-work behind it and is very practical.
Without the law, all pre-mined fiat currencies would be worthless at once, while BTC would not.

Absolutely, bitcoin is just play money. Everybody knows that, who said anything different?
Send me all your play monies ... if you win the game I'll send them right back.

I guarantee people who say this sort of thing and the people who come onto these forums regularly to attack Bitcoin are just hoping the price goes down from what they say so they can trade it more themselves in secret I've never felt the same giddiness earning fiat that ive felt earning btc. there is something special about it, something different. The reason you feel this way is Bitcoin is worth more, it can do more and you can do more with it and you're free to do with it whatever you want, I know I've really upped my productivity lately because I know now that anything I earn isn't going to devalue itself 100 times over in the next year. No one can take your Bitcoins away from you unless they steal it or hack your computer, not even the government or central banks.

Using Bitcoin "feels" natural i don't know why but it feels like i've been using it all my life, and NO it does not "feel" like play money
I see it as a huge technological advancement in economic evolution, i like to think of it as the new underlying financial internetwork of humankind.
Night by night this magical cryptographic currency grows and entangles with the world wide web creating the most spectacular currency imaginable !
Quoted feel because it is not a tangible object but you understand my meaning

Yeah bitcoin feels like a game that is fair and worth playing. That is way more then I can say about the fiat currencies game that is rigged from top to bottom.

I came to bitcoin when I had a need for transferring some money and the international transfer fees were just ridiculous. It turned out that in this case, it would have been too complicated to exchange fiat into bitcoin on my side and vice versa on the recipient's side, so we didn't actually follow it through. So practically speaking, it's been play money for me up to now and for the foreseeable future. My employer won't pay me in BTC, there are no things that I need and could buy with BTC that I couldn't get with less effort for fiat money. So right now it's just an educational thing (learning a lot about economy and psychology on the way) and some small-scale gambling with amounts comparable to those I'd wager in sports bets with friends. I'd probably do small side jobs for BTC (basically coding for fun and getting a token of appreciation) but currently the amount of available spare time is zilch...
